So to preface, this is a throwaway but I'm an active lurker here. My situation begins with me being a Nice Guy, I didn't know how to show assertiveness without being awkward, so I played the Nice Guy card because it felt natural. I'm pretty young, yet I've manged to curtail it a lot and actually learned that the way society views nice guys isn't helping us figure ourselves out.

Target Audience: This post is for you guys who struggle with the idea of a "Nice Guy" in your head. Where part of you may fall in the category, don't tear yourself apart! This is general advice for that attribute in you, so you'll need more resources depending on where you stand. Also realize, Nice Guys aren't doomed to be single forever, you need to channel your personality.

Different Women do have tendencies, but don't let stereotypes about a bad boy stealing your girl control you. Every situation is unique, but applying a few attributes to your personality can get you farther.

Things Women dislike in "Nice Guys" are: Passiveness, lack of leadership whatsoever, inability to flow with teasing or jokes. I think where a lot of guys go wrong is thinking they can't say or do anything to screw it up, being outward is better than doing nothing and being the sweet calm one. That's frankly boring, it gets old after so long.

Things Women like in "Nice Guys" are: Compassion, positive feedback, consistency. Don't be the mushy guy that spoon feeds her compliments, be genuine with your compliments and put meaning behind them and your actions. You can still play your part, do so with finesse.

Playful finishing thoughts: Basically, you do need to nut up to a certain extent, but don't let this idea conflict your personality too much. Keep it G as some would say, just be self aware of yourself. It's a cruel game, but it doesn't mean you can't switch your play-style up.

Quick-tips for Nice Guys:

  • Never keep her on a pedestal, tease back and let her know that you're on par with her in the tango, not below.
  • Craft your feedback, try timing your compliments and make them unique and impacting
  • Don't be passive! Make some plans, lead the conversation's pace, just don't be a drag (you can find great advice for that on this subreddit)
  • If you're being nice due to insecurity, anxiety or you got no game: this subreddit will help you immensely
