I got to throw a plug to /r/men's menslib. Those are, myself included, male feminists who work on male issues without trying to tell women to prioritize our changes over theirs. A lot of men's issues are related to our societies conceptions of masculinity and gender roles. We really don't need to distract women's from women's issues because we don't need women to deal with our issues. The approach is that we as a group need to tackle these issues.

The guys you know are apparently different from guys I know, because all of those traits you mention girls get aroused over, guys do to. You're honestly just guessing, aren't you? Those societies become poor and misfortune when they give up their "backwards ways" and are unsuccessful at adapting to the "modernization" forced on them. Hunter-gatherer groups are often very content with their lifestyles when they're able to actively maintain it. This is stuff you'd learn from even the most basic research in culutral anthropology.

My advice: make friends quickly. People at events with like this are generally really friendly, so make a few acquaintances with people around you without trying to game yet.
