Yeah I have started to be more open. Before I would say 'do you use whatsapp' and hope for them to give me their number, now I am much less effusive on social media in general. I used to go on all out charm offensives. Now I feel like I'm talking like a fucking zombie serial killer in short sentences and statements with zero question marks but my god it works wonders. Very weird. The rules seems to be: Over text - be a little mysterious and not too forward IRL - pursue openly but not obsessively

To be fair I am mostly speaking about texting

I'll be curious to see more. When you say flake, how do you define it? As in, when they stop replying?

That too much is what turns women off, not the pursuit itself, the becoming creepy and too much attention. You're reinforcing my initial point about deliberately not wanting to show too much attention. Pretending disinterest. Because as you say here, too much attention is creepy. I know all that about her not being a special snowflake, etc.

'pretending' - That's your problem. But come on, how am I supposed to suppress feelings for a gorgeous girl I really want. I don't want to freak her out with too much pursuit, so the only option is to yes, pretend I'm not into her until she starts showing interest back.

So you're saying, hook and pull, then suddenly ice? Could you give an example of a timeline in days? And then other times you pursue and push, then when it's clear she's receptive, flame on with more intensity?

Very true, thank you. Online dating tends to suck anyway. Well, it has its upsides - unlimited opportunities. But texting is not a way to build a connection. Nobody has their best memories from when they were texting someone. Tinder has made things very cold, distant and brutal. Emotions go hot and cold in an instant. Awkward remark or bad joke? Sorry, you've lost your chance. Why would a girl or guy bother laughing it off or pushing through it, with a view to build a relationship, when they can…

Ah man. I completely failed a shit test on tinder the other day. Was having a great chat with this very attractive woman, just the kind I love - tattoos, piercings, side-smile, stoner. It was going well, we were getting on and she agreed she'd like to meet up to share a joint, until I asked that we move to chatting on whatsapp and make some plans. She said: we can chat on whatsapp if you guess my phone number. I was pissed off that she was doing a blatant shit test and replied with -_- and said,…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
