This is so hard to do, I can't say sticking to one works better than the other. The trick is knowing which one to do with what people. Some people want to feel connected, wanted, liked so they enjoy when someone pursues them. Others that have busy lives, or are not really after something serious would detest this approach and opt for the elusive, hard to get type.

Instead of thinking of this as "which one is best?", one should be thinking "when is it appropriate to use ______?"

I usually try not to ask about her per say but rather something she is interested in.

I'm very passionate when I pursue a woman. I openly compliment women, very sexually at times, too, and will persist after 1, 2, 3 flakes. I can be romantic, too, even if I only just met them (though I'm also sexual).

All depends on her value vs yours. If you perceive her high to be high value, high confidence, cold. If low value, low confidence, warm.
