This is harder than I thought. I've been trying to improve myself over the last year. I've lost weight, gained some muscle, gotten a new job, organized my home, but this is really hard for me. I don't think I ever really think about this stuff. I think I don't want to, but even now that I do I really don't know what my goals are.

I guess I should start thinking of it that way. I thought I was just taking the initial steps by hitting the gym, and the progress hasn't been too bad. (I'm guilty of some of what you were talking about) I keep telling myself I'll go out once I've lost a little more weight and gained some muscle. In the back of my head I know I shouldn't be thinking this, but I just can't seem to help it.

It isn't impossible. I used to hate myself too. I was made fun of all through middle and high school and I didn't do shit about it. Here's my take on all this stuff, at least the way I've taken it in. This community is about helping individuals improve themselves. I haven't gotten a girl in at least 6 months but I'm trying to focus on myself right now. I've had bouts of depression for around 10 years now and too often I turned to substances or distractions. I've been working out for a few weeks now and I think it's helping. So, that's my suggestion to you. First step is fixing yourself/your depression, next step is trying to get women. I think those together ought to snowball into you feeling better a higher percentage of the time.

Oh, I am absolutely into this. I need to get out and do something to get over my one-itis. Perhaps we should keep a running thread where people can tally up how they're doing. Personally, I'm a very competitive person, and maybe trying to beat all of you in points is the motivation I need.
