Is this really the best comment you could come up with? Someone is actually taking suicide seriously and your response is to make flippant misogynist remarks? Get ahold of yourself.

I'm in the same boat. I started calling it out and would just get shouted down as a concern troll, whatever the fuck that even means. There is good news and interesting opinions here, but lately the toxicity has gone way up and it's pushing the more reasonable people out. Which is a shame, because a lot of this is stuff that needs to be heard, just not when it's shouted by incel shitbags.

Oh I’m not calling this rape by coercion, my point is just that if the legal system is going to draw that distinction, I think this should fall under it. It’s trickery to get guys naked and ogle them, at the very least, under current legal definitions, it should be sexual harassment.

Well, I guess we just disagree on that, then. The joys of art. I think the piece is crappy in a number of ways, but that's not one of them.

What matters is the intent, and the space was never part of the intent of the piece. You're making a mountain out of a molehill here. You mean to say the tiny girl statue like ten feet away "blocks the view?" Get a grip.

Again, very different to put something next to the Mona Lisa than to tape something to her face.

It was originally a piece of guerilla artwork and it's in a park. Furthermore, it's only there because the parks department pulled it out of the middle of the street where it originally was, but got a lot of requests for it, so they reinstalled it in a new spot. Your point is so arguable I would go so far as to say it's false. It's not like the artist incorporated the location in any way, it was simply placed there. The space has nothing to do with the piece itself. That's like saying the entire…

That's very different. In no way was his original work altered. This is the equivalent of painting something mocking the Mona Lisa and hanging it right next to the Mona Lisa. Tasteless, sure, but certainly not defamation or infringement of the original work in any way.

I find this claim of needing a judge, county clerk, and 5 months to buy a gun dubious. Unless you were buying a Browning machine gun or needed to expunge some felonies first or something in which case that's perfectly reasonable.

What you're saying certainly is true, but sadly America, if it did unseat one of the major parties, would settle back into two major parties within a couple of election cycles, just with different parties. It's actually a pretty interesting phenomenon if politics is your thing. I'm not a political scientist or anything, but it's something I do take a strong interest in, since it's important as hell.

How is comparing New Zealand's parliamentary system to our political system an argument? You'd be better off just saying they both exist, that's about the extent of their similarities. You're the one trying to compare foreign parliaments to our political system, so I'm going to wager I'm not the illiterate one here. A two party system is the logical end to our system of politics for a whole host of well analyzed reasons. But hey, if you think ad hominem and being a condescending asswad is the same as forming a cogent argument, feel free to continue.

When you run out of real issues to fight for, but you still want the money to keep flowing, that's when you wind up with modern feminism. After all, there's a lot of money in victimhood, plus they get to hate a group of people for free and feel like special snowflakes!

Don't ever forget that victimhood in this case (and in this country) is a multi billion dollar industry. That's the tip of the "why," but it definitely goes much deeper than that. You said it perfectly yourself, it's frightening to have held an ideology and suddenly have the base of it ripped away. It's difficult to critically reevaluate the things you believe. And it's painful when some of them aren't right. Some people, when faced with that, double down and get angry that their beliefs were ev…

No, the reason men can't report is because groups like NOW fight for things like the Duluth Model and aggressor laws that make it so that if you report you go to jail anyway. I'm not saying they are lying or telling the truth. How many times do I need to say that? You're not even reading what I'm saying. I'm saying we don't know one way or the other. What we think is, frankly, of little consequence. I'm telling you how it works in a court of law. There is simply not enough evidence to bring a case, even if they weren't past the statute of limitations. Either way, those making the claim must prove their claim, that's just how this works. Cosby doesn't have to do anyth…
/r/MensRights23/11/14 03:37 AM

What in god's name are you even saying? Prove what? They made accusations, the burden is on them and the state to prove them. That's how the legal system works. It just is. I don't even know what more to say to you. You're asking that he prove they're lying. You said as much, many many times in this thread, that he needs to impeach their character, ie he needs to prove his innocence. Are you just being deliberately obtuse?
/r/MensRights23/11/14 03:23 AM
2

Absolutely this. This is a very important distinction. Unsubstantiated != false. It means unproven.
/r/MensRights23/11/14 03:18 AM
2

You're saying he should prove they're lying. That's precisely what you've done.
/r/MensRights23/11/14 03:15 AM
2

It absolutely does not. Please, cite me some legal precedent that hearsay is evidence.
/r/MensRights23/11/14 03:12 AM
3

Absolutely not. It's circumstantial evidence, hearsay at best. Unless there is some hard evidence that person did it, possession of stolen property, video of the attacks, something like that, no, they should not be convicted. That isn't how our justice system works, and for good reason. I may well believe those people, but that simply isn't enough to convict in a court of law.
/r/MensRights23/11/14 03:10 AM
3

You're confusing evidence with allegations. There are a lot of allegations against him. There is no evidence against him. I'm not defending him or condemning him, because there just isn't any evidence. Edit: grammar
/r/MensRights23/11/14 03:08 AM
2

That's exactly what I'm saying. There are people making accusations and no evidence they're lying, and there is a man who is being accused and no evidence he's lying. Of course he's defensive, he's being accused of multiple rapes. And if the women attacking his character are good enough evidence for you, why is him attacking their character not equally good for you? Anecdotes and accusations are not suitable evidence. So I am making zero conclusions. It could be either way, and the fact is we wi…
/r/MensRights23/11/14 02:09 AM
2

I don't even understand what you're trying to say. You've already decided he's guilty without any evidence whatsoever, but his accusers can't possibly be guilty of fabricating allegations without it being proven? Your bias is showing.
/r/MensRights22/11/14 11:45 PM

Multiple allegations is not evidence. That's just several people saying the same thing. If 20 people stood up right now and said the Earth is flat, would you believe them too?
/r/MensRights22/11/14 11:37 PM

It absolutely is. Everyone is busy jumping to the conclusions they want to see, when the fact is there isn't a shred of evidence one way or the other. How are people seriously deciding what happened without anything concrete about any of it?
/r/MensRights22/11/14 10:12 PM
12

Is there any evidence they're telling the truth? I'm not saying we should conclude anything about any of them, in fact because there is zero evidence I'd say there are zero conclusions to be made here.
/r/MensRights22/11/14 10:10 PM

I see that. The way this is written is really obfuscating. I can't even find a lifetime stat for made to penetrate.
/r/MensRights21/11/14 09:37 PM
1

In the second paragraph under results it states that 1.7% of men were made to penetrate in their lifetimes, but the amount in the 12 months prior to the study was too small to be statistically significant or reliable. The 1.6% of women raped is from 12 months prior to the study. I think you might be misreading the study. Edit: nope, my mistake, I misread it. I see the statistic you're citing. Carry on.
/r/MensRights21/11/14 09:24 PM

I can't find the statistic you're quoting anywhere in your source. It indicates women are raped and sexually assaulted at much greater rates than men, even taking into account being made to penetrate.

Yes, thank you! There have been so many times that I've been talking to people about the MRM and trying to share our views and they say "Well don't all MRAs just hate women/feminism," or "I heard it's a hate group," or something similar, and I want to point them to a reasonable board with lots of issues being brought up and focused on, and it's....well, it's not here. I'm not saying I'd jump straight to awful reviews and federal cases, but I would certainly bring it to the doctor whose practice it was to rectify the situation if possible. That's all I'm saying. A doctor's private practice where they interact with their staff every day is a little different than a multibillion dollar corporation with offices in several countries. If my local pizza shop has shitty practices, of course I hold the owner responsible. Same as I would hold a doctor in their practice responsible. Even if you do have a recording device, it'd likely be billed as assault. Even in the best of circumstances, you have to prove that you used absolutely the bare minimum force to prevent bodily harm, and that you were in imminent danger of bodily harm. It's a very fine line to toe, and that's if it's man on man. If you're a man and try to prevent a woman from hurting you, I'd wager my next paycheck you're going to jail.

/r/MensRights11/03/14 04:51 AM

Why should any of that matter? What do my race, nationality, sex, or gender have to do with my point? You said that if a woman was directing people in an emergency, you would not do what she says because she is a woman. BECAUSE SHE IS A WOMAN. That is the literal definition of sexism. How obtuse can you be? Now fuck off, I won't reply to you again.
/r/MensRights11/03/14 12:01 AM

I might learn why women should never be listened to, and why you always have better ideas based solely on your genitalia? Nah, I'm good. You keep on being sexist though if that's working for you.
/r/MensRights10/03/14 11:51 PM

Yes, for two reasons. First, what if the woman has knowledge or experience you don't? What if she is a firefighter, or emergency personnel? Are you going to say, "Nah, you're a woman, I'll do my own thing?" That's idiotic. Second, the logical extension of that is that women and children should conversely do what you say in a dangerous situation. Why? Because you're a man? Personally, I wouldn't do what you say because you're a fucking idiot, gender plays no part in it.
/r/MensRights10/03/14 11:33 PM

Good, I say. This "rape culture doesn't real because women fantasize about rape" and "women should submit to men" dreck has no place here. It's ignorant, irrational, sexist, and quite frankly the fact that it's posted here makes us all look bad. These kinds of posts are why so many people dismiss the MRM as misogynist. We can't be fighting for equality while simultaneously letting this horseshit go by unchallenged on our end.

No. Just no. That is not how homosexuality works. Many men decide to be celibate or remain unmarried, but they don't just "turn gay." So much of this post is horribly sexist and ignorant, it's borderline TRP.
/r/MensRights10/03/14 08:35 PM

Who said anybody needed to provide for or protect anyone? That's infantilizing. Part of equal rights means equal responsibility. It's on everyone to protect themselves. You're arguing against sexism by saying that a solution would be for women to stand down and obey men so we can protect them? That's asinine. I recognize that the world is a dangerous place, and I protect myself, as should any capable person. All you're doing is making yourself sound incredibly sexist.
/r/MensRights10/03/14 06:01 PM

Right, but remember that it's the girls who called the police, not the other way around. As far as the police knew, he was just some guy.

I'm not even sure OP can press charges. It isn't his property. He can inform the owners about the incident and they can press charges, but I kind of doubt that's within OP's power. I'd say the cops acted reasonably.

Then you damn sure better make sure women account for 50% of workplace deaths instead of the 3% currently, and that miners and farmers and garbage collectors are 50% women too. You can't just be pissed off that CEO's are largely men. While we're at it, let's make sure suicides and homelessness are 50% women, too. See what I'm getting at?
/r/MensRights03/07/13 06:03 PM

That's really reductive, don't you think? Women and men both get screwed plenty in their own ways based on gender alone, that's the point.

Can you give an example of women not having bodily autonomy? Not some asshole republican trying to attack women's rights, but a lack of rights at this point in time? I'm not being smarmy, I want your take on it. Have you ever experienced a lack of autonomy?

I both agree and disagree. I get frustrated with "Hurr durr this woman sucks look what she said," but I also see how that mindset can spread and become stifling for men. I think we're getting into the territory of views on government, not what's pertinent in today's society. I agree that some lady being obnoxious on the internet isn't the most pressing issue at hand, but the fact that our government is influenced by these people can't be ignored, whether you think it should be that way or not. When it's acceptable to shame men publicly, it leads to more nefarious treatment. Surely you can see how that's a problem. Personally, I feel like this woman was mostly ju…

You're correct, but they can and will always argue that he was disrupting the educational process or violating some school policy or another. These policies are structured to give an out in almost any situation. On paper, of course he has rights. In practice, not so much. Let's be realistic here. He's a minor in a state funded institution.

Not entirely, but schools have a much greater ability to restrict speech than the government. They could have expelled him, and there would be basically nothing he could do. Honestly, I don't think there's anything he can do about this besides making himself a target of the school administration.

The legal code is given to jurors in a way that is intentionally obfuscating as well. Lawyers try really hard to confuse the shit out of the jury just so that they don't know what the actual basis for a conviction should be so they can then make it emotional and get them to forgo reason. Have you ever read the jury instructions given before deliberation? If you can translate it to English I'll give you ten bucks. Our legal system is a series of loopholes exploited to maximum gain. That seems to suggest that the wage gap isn't nonexistent, but rather < 10%. That hardly "debunks" it. It says that the gap may be caused entirely by worker choices, but makes no definitive argument. It does say that there is no need for corrective action, but from what I can tell, it reports that a wage gap does exist.

I don't have a source handy (I'm on my phone), but some quick Google searches or SSS.gov should give you a bunch. Not only do you not get to vote or receive any government employment or aid, but you can actually be fined up to $250,000 for failing to register, and I believe they can put you in prison. It's fascinating to me that so often with dating, not being persistent enough is looked at as a flaw, and women (and men sometimes) will occasionally turn you down initially to see if you'll ask again. Then, if you are persistent and attractive, you're good to go. If you're unattractive in some way, you're a creep. Right, because a collection of a few hundred of the most privileged people on earth is a great indicator as to how the rest of us are doing. I'm sure it did. All most of us wanted was to feel like normal folk from time to time. Having an authority figure looming over you every moment of every day is very dehumanizing, so having a chance to connect on that level does a lot to make inmates feel more comfortable and make you seem less like a faceless enforcer. When the guards would take a moment to BS or learn something about us or crack a joke, it conveyed respect, and that's 95% of what makes the GP run. As long as we were respected, …

Ah, I misunderstood. I get what you're saying. County jail while waiting for trial was a much different place than prison. In my experience, which was admittedly fairly minimal, the guards and staff were present, but minimally. The inmates controlled the minutia of the inmate population. The guards mostly made sure everything was fairly quiet. As long as you weren't rubbing it in the guards' faces, they let us do what we pleased, rule abiding or not. We got away with a lot, and the guards knew a…

I will say that there are a lot of pretty nice guys in there, just mixed up like I was. The strangest encounter I had was when I was transferred to my parent institution. I had just gotten off the bus and rolled into chow, so I sat at an empty table. This old man sat down across from me and chatted me up, and seemed very nice. The degree of felony doesn't affect housing in many cases. During my stay in my state's fine institutions, I was housed with two men convicted of murder 1st, once during classification and once at my parent institution, one child killer, one serial rapist (who, through the general influence of the population was rapidly forced to move to PC), and an unstable man with a long history of violent assaults on other inmates. I was serving half time on one year for delivery of a controlled substance. T…

The shocking thing was that I said something to the effect of male privilege really isn't the privilege people say it is, and men have plenty of struggles of their own, and then shit BLEW THE FUCK UP. It was like I flipped the reason switch to off and then ripped it out of the wall.

The problem with this is, any time I try this approach, it turns into accusations that I find their point of view absurd because of all my male privilege.
