I was in a pageant for young women when I was 18 and won runner up (“Princess” - lol). Like someone else before me, it was an agricultural community. We didn’t have a talent portion or a swimsuit competition. I wouldn’t have agreed if that was the case. Over the course of 14 weeks, we learned public speaking, how to field on-the-spot questions and there was an extensive test on community knowledge. These were all part of each contestants total score and we all took it pretty seriously. Looking g…

The thought of being called “mommy” by a sexual partner is a complete turn off as I’m sure it is for most women. It’s enough of a turn off that many men treat us like their mommy outside the bedroom!

COVID was a blessing in regards to makeup for me. If I’m going out for nothing special it’s just BB cream, powder and a little mascara now. Super quick and the savings are nice too!

Girls (and women too), but I mean actual girls are just as present with platform and online games as the boys are right now. I’m talking the 8-12 set. With so much cool tech it’s not a mystery. Great tips all around btw. I’m an old but I’ve almost always enjoyed gaming on some level.

I really don’t understand men who don’t want to continue going on dates with their wives or girlfriends. Don’t they enjoy a nice evening out? A movie? Dinner? I just don’t get it.

OMG - that’s terrible! I know this is a sub on dating strategies and not a self-help group but it’s important to acknowledge toxic family members (and a not insignificant amount of terrible mothers as well as fathers) affecting so many of our choices - especially the ones we make when we’re still at home or freshly on our own.

It’s extremely difficult to write women convincingly if you’re not one. Wally Lamb received huge acclaim for writing “She’s Come Undone” - a first person female narrative - because it’s just that difficult to do. What chance does some rando on Reddit have?

Honestly, I’m mad for them! They don’t get to enjoy sex or the act of making love to a woman. No one knew at the outset that porn was going to be this damaging. Men went from looking at semi-tasteful nudes in a limited monthly publication that they had the good sense to keep to themselves to consuming a constantly devolving and ever more debased and endless stream of porn available 24/7.

This is so bizarre and definitely not normal! I’m from the pre-internet porn era and men in their 20s and 30s should have no problem getting hard or staying hard until completion. This was a non-issue when I was in my 20s and 30s. TBH, I’d be a little WTH if I encountered this situation tomorrow. It sounds like an entire generation of men have been ruined - literally ruined - by porn. How incredibly senseless and sad.

I have experience with AA in a similar way and this was also my experience. The program is helpful for some people, but there are other options out there. I found it a bit like a cult at times, damaging at others - but there are good parts too. Attend women’s only meetings though. If you can’t - or there’s a meeting you really want to attend - take some friends for safety. Stay safe out there!

My ex did/does this with his family and me (we have children together). At the time, I didn’t think to question WHY he was telling me these things. He’d run back to his family after and tell them anything I said as a result, forever ensuring we’d be at odds with each other.

As a Gen-X who has Gen-Z children, it’s all out of control. I meant social media in general is a plague. I think fake nails have come a long way. I have a hard time understanding who wants them. Long nails are a PITA and harbour bacteria. There’s a reason surgeons don’t have long nails.

10-15 years ago fake lashes were for a special event (like a wedding or walking the red carpet somewhere). Fake nails have been around (Lee press-ons!) since the 80s. I really think Instagram influencers are terrible for anyone, but especially so for impressionable girls and young women. So many looks that aren’t achievable IRL, or looks that can only be achieved in a bubble (posed shots). All of it looks terrible close up, especially in daylight. Overly styled eyebrows will be the 90s “line eye…

I’ve been seeing OF ads for months letting me know that their platform is for artists and creators, NOT JUST PORN. I guess it was an attempt to rebrand that failed miserably. He was also engaged to Alanis Morisette for 3 years and their engagement “ended”. She wrote an album about their 5 year relationship and described it as “cathartic”. TBH, I’m disappointed that Canada sent some of our finest (Reynolds, Gosling) and they’ve turned out to be disappointments.

It’s been going on for as long as Old Hollywood at least - where the leading men were noticeably older than their female counterparts and were actually fine physical specimens. Some aged wonderfully - Paul Newman, Sean Connery. Hmm… can only think of two examples off the top of my head. Modern day equivalent is probably George Clooney. Then there’s the tragic tale of Marlon Brando, who curdled like old milk by middle age. There’s a lot more that go this route than the other.

Most women aren’t going to have an orgasm from PIV (for a lot of reasons), but there is no excuse for a man “getting his” and neglecting yours. I’m an old, but I will never forget an even older friend of mine saying, “If they didn’t do their job, then I want them to know”.

You are a strong person because you’ve not only managed your own life, but you’ve also been carrying the planks of others. Saying “no” isn’t selfish and shouldn’t warrant anyone going on a tirade. If someone can’t hear the word “no” and get on with their life, that’s on them. I also love that you said “another think coming” because that’s the proper way and most people mess it up.

I’m Gen X and feel like we followed an unwritten code that was very FDS-minded. I’m honestly surprised that so many people here consider 95% of the principles here to be new information. Porn wasn’t the issue it is today and we didn’t have social media (for better or worse). Otherwise it’s the same dance. My grandmother knew the things you’re just learning if you’re young enough to not know better. I don’t understand why someone wouldn’t want the benefit of someone else’s wisdom?

A terrifying true tale: I was friends with my ex for 10 years before we even dated. I met his family before then also. I was ambivalent about having children and it wasn’t important to me at the time whether I ever had a child or not. We married a year to the date after our first date (so romantic!) and we waited a year after that to start a family so we could enjoy “just being a married couple” first. My suggestion. Barf. We were both older so that family didn’t happen easily but when it did… S…

30+ years later, I’m “friends” with a couple of ex boyfriends from high school who weren’t horrible to me. It was nice seeing how their lives turned out and to share a glimpse of mine with them. If either of them acted weird or suddenly wanted to chat a lot, I’d put them in their place and then delete without hesitation. I felt OK (safe enough) because of the passage of time but also distance. I live on the opposite side of the country now so there’s no possibility to interact IRL.

I hate vacuuming and avoid it whenever possible. I also don’t have carpeting (an area rug) so the vacuum is mainly to catch the spiders. But if you’ll handle the dust (allergies which is why I don’t have carpet) then I’ll not only fold your laundry but I’ll wash and dry it too! ❤️

I’m an old, but even back in the 80s I knew there was definitely something off about anyone bragging about a “body count”. How did anyone literally not notice she is a woman? Magazine covers and a bulky suit aside, she’s feminine and has a womanly shape (complete with obvious breasts at the bowling alley). Not just any woman though. I’m skilled with a camera. I take decent portraits but I’d have no idea how to make a woman feel free and yet secure in a studio, except by virtue that I’m a woman. If you’re considering hiring a photographer as a woman to do shots where you will be (or even might be) vulnerable ask for their portfolio. Don’t meet up with a stranger on the internet who may/may not be a woman (or might even have a woman involved just to make contact/put you at ease). Vet a photographer …

There’s also The Testaments which is a follow up to The Handmaid’s Tale but I haven’t read it yet. When The Handmaid’s Tale was published it seemed like a much further away preview to a dark future that doesn’t seem that far away anymore. Men read here (hate-read or otherwise). It’s broadcasting a strategy which is unfortunate, but possibly necessary. The series is a lot more violent than the book could have imagined, partly because it’s trying to be a relevant product of its time, but (maybe?) …

I highly recommend all the Atwood, especially The Handmaid’s Tale because it’s relevant. All her books are good, thought provoking reads. I especially loved Cat’s Eye (a book about the problematic girls who turn into women in our lives) and Alias Grace (historical fiction).

It was mostly pubes and a large gut with a small and unattractive penis that was overpowered by the pubes. I’m sure whoever sent it was trying to assert some dominance but I was already familiar with the territory since I married a man who eventually suffered from buried penis due to marriage and bad habits (took less than 4 years for him to reach his final form).

Agreed. It was easy for Pickton (serial killer/pig farmer) to disappear nearly 50 women (that we know of) because they were prostitutes and addicts in Vancouver’s lower east side. Same with many of Canada’s indigenous women and girls, except in this case it’s very obviously racially (un)motivated. Hundreds of missing women there who will almost certainly never be found.

Super creepy! Looking back at the 21/22 year old that I dated at 15/16. What even?!? I get why I thought the relationship was cool (older boyfriend, full time employed, cool car). Guess he was hot for my 10PM curfew (11 on weekends!) and all the sex I never had with him. I shake my head over Kelly every chance I get.

I agree. Hemsworth is objectively handsome and needs an 11/10 bod to play a literal god. I’m not sure this is healthy realism. He doesn’t do it for me, but to each their own I guess.

Karen is just as bad as the Stacy in the incel “Stacy and Chad” nonsense. FWIW, my middle name is Karen so if someone calls me one I will eventually say, “well, my middle name IS Karen” like someone would if their middle name was Danger I guess? It’s pretty pervasive among tweens at this point for “a woman complaining” regardless of context. It’s the next evolution of sexism.

The most successful women I’ve known in a variety of careers didn’t wear makeup and no one cared because they were amazing at their jobs. I do skincare because I think that’s sensible for anyone. My routine is inexpensive and basic but that’s probably how it should be. I do wear makeup for fun sometimes even if I’m not going anywhere further than the grocery store because of COVID. Other times I feel lazy and I don’t care. Again, I keep my routine fairly light and basic. I was blessed with many …

Some of my comments have been removed for questioning the integrity of this post or it’s position on crowns and how they perpetuate a patriarchy as a symbol. This is a good group of women but we should be able to challenge one another and be open to discourse without being hidden because I disagree. If we can’t agree to disagree then it’s an echo chamber.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy03/05/21 03:39 AM

Her phone is already in front of her face. That and losing basic tracking on your photos gets the job done. I’m not criticizing the crown per sé, but an Insta photo without mentioning the actual pain involved in wearing a tiara or crown (costume or otherwise) is bad form for women everywhere. Unless you’re also taking a pic for the ‘gram then that hurts and it’s no better than using a waist trainer for likes.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy03/05/21 03:12 AM

I already said crowns and such are straight out of the patriarchy. I love the energy but I think it’s misdirected and my main complaint was that this isn’t a real photo.

That’s fair and I am older. I’ve done my dating, married (for better and worse), had children. We had a lot of fads but buying a crown that hurts to wear and unless it’s a costume will make you look cray - save that money. Buy good jewelry and not costume. Allocate your assets however you want, but the importance of a group is important. Rings, tiaras, crowns - doesn’t matter. This sort of thing is important to people who want to belong here.

I love the idea so much and I’m going to come across as salty but this pic has a lot of filters and also looks photoshopped. As an older woman here who has eyes for days for this kind of thing professionally, I’m a bit concerned that it’s going to become a thing here (like the rings) and you all have better things to spend your money on. By all means, treat yourself but not through a silly group fad.

I remember the neuticals because that was so ridiculous. As a responsible pet owner, I had both of my cats neutered/spayed as soon as it was safe to do so. I wanted a bonded pair of cats and adopted the boys/girl pair out of the litter. Getting the boy cat’s balls off was such a blessing. The girl cat hadn’t even had a chance to go into heat yet, but he was kind of showing signs of wanting to mimic some cat sexy times with his sister. Balls off, he’s a true gentleman. It’s probably true. You could have done your studies and still had a cute and sweet summer romance 20-30 years ago. It sounds impossible now. As a single mom (who is happily forever alone), I’d like to say that it’s a myth that “no man will ever want a single mom”. Quite the opposite. We had the beginnings of this in the 90s and early aughts: the “metrosexual” who looked fine, smelled nice, knew how to dress, always wore stylish shoes (and as an added bonus knew how to dance due to a renewed interest in Big Band). The women loved it. The scrotes shamed them relentlessly. I guess the approval of their “peers” mattered more than the approval of the women in their lives. Or they all got married and gave up. The #1 rule I drilled into my kids was “adults don’t ask kids for help”. It’s been a few years since I read it (and I’ve since passed it along to someone else), but the core of the book is really about trusting your instincts - or gut feelings - about when a person or situation is off. This applies to kids around strangers but also mothers who are out with their children. If you feel vulnerable as a single woman in a situation, you’re 100 times more so when you’re with your baby/child (and of co…

I Googled the recordings and they’re definitely a must-listen of an absolute loser of a man even all these years later. Times change, but the audacity stays the same. 10/10 recommend if you want to sit there with a wtf look on your face for 4 minutes. Poor Olga.

Yes! The messages and his photo popping up in the media was what made all the pieces come together for me. Prior to that, I thought he was some creepy rando. I was doing 95% of the care (including all night time feedings, etc.). I was still expected to do all the laundry, cleaning and cooking. After he left, I couldn’t believe how much easier everything was because I wasn’t looking after a fully …
