the white knight in the scenario I described is definitely overcompensating for something. On appearance he is incredibly needy of female attention, very cringy

I wonder how common blackmail or maligned intent is these days? I definitely go for connection before intimacy, good advice

white knight is an apt description. The dude (older beta type) that levied the accusations claimed to be doing so to protect women, all while he was running off with my friends girl friend and grooming other attractive young women in the community. Very Machiavellian white knight syndrome

I wish I could believe that, my friend is definitely not a creep.

Besides the obvious stuff already mentioned, I am drawn in in by feminine radiance and receptivity. This might present as intelligence, playfulness and warmth.

I hear ya, and to clarify I fully acknowledge at a certain point the age difference is just ridiculous. I actual want connection, and eros. It comes in many packages and ages, but damn it seems hard to find

I think uncle energy is what I meant by dancing monkey, basically trying too hard to get attention. It is rather cute tho

As I get older I somehow find it harder to communicate interest directly, especial if there is a significant age difference. I feel a sense of taboo, like I am doing something wrong by expressing my desires. My default is to hang back and play it cool.Needless to say thats not working out very well

The gift of desire is such an important reframe on male sexuality. I have recently discovered Zan's writings and feel very aligned with this approach. Beauty wants to be appreciated and respected

Non verbal communication is the most interesting IMHO. When a women gets physical when dancing I treat it like a conversation (Im pretty sure thats what women are doing). Find some way to acknowledge her sexy gesture, be it eye contact, spinning her around, light touch. It's been said many times in this thread, but being in the moment, rather than a script is key. I am so amazed at the bravery of women who get super flirty at the club, I can only imagine their disappointment when the dude they a…

Ive spent a good portion of my adult life trying to deprogram myself from bad beliefs installed in my 20s. The absence of good male role models and negative messaging about male sexuality from second wave feminism have created an epidemic of timid men

So much truth in this post. A good friend of mine was recently destroyed after falling into this pattern. He went on 5 dates, lots of texting and interest. He thought he had found 'the one'. Then the dreaded 'I just want to be friends' conversation. So very painful. In the postmortem he revealed how he would go on 5 hour dates with this woman, during which he would bare his soul.

There is default personality trait of being passive, people pleasing and overly concerned about how my sexual interests will be received by women. For me this is a product of an absent father and being indoctrinated by 2nd wave feminism to believe that male sexuality and men are the cause of all evil and injustice in the world. it is some serious bad programming that has taken me many years to recode

this is one of the good things about getting older, I tend to care less about other peoples opinion of me. I think not giving a shit is key to staying vital as we age. That said, I still feel it is important to be open to feedback.

My father was a textbook example of narcissism, a real charmer with the ladies, but complete train wreck in interpersonal/family relationships. I credit him for my nice guy traits because growing up I didnt want to be anything like him, I became passive and nice

My father was like kryptonite to me growing up. The abuse was mostly never overt, it was in his absence, he made it clear he didn't want to be a father, to the point where he insisted I call by his first name. The strange thing is I inherited his creativity and animal magnetism (he was a ladies man), but I rejected these qualities growing up because I didnt want to be anything like him.

Gordon Ramsey I couldn't agree more about the the need to face adversity and pain to forge a strong masculine core. There are countless examples of this. I don't even think it has to be focused on a sense of purpose, there is the possibility of developing grit through relating directly to ones own loneliness. What I have observed in other guys is the need for female affirmation becomes overwhelming, they either jump into a bad situation with the first woman they can get or become cynical douches…

I appreciate your candour. I share your history of sexual trauma, which has made intimate relationship difficult. Talk therapy doesn't seem to get to the root as trauma is wired in the body/nervous system Only positive experience of. sexuality can undo that. I have found benefit from various forms of bodywork, especially tantric massage, Im not talking rub and tug, but finding someone who is trauma informed and can help you embrace you sexuality in a safe and supportive container

the main benefit of working out for me is confidence, which helps in all aspects of life. You can do everything you need to do in a workout from home too, no gym, no excuses

The occidental world has a very narrow definition about the mind, as if it were just some electrical impulses in the brain. However, traditional cultures around the world, and non theistic traditions see mind as something very vast, the origin of appearances. Visualization has been used for thousands of years to understand and work with the illusory nature of mind and reality. It is a great suggestion to try five minutes a day visualizing positive results with women, Ill do it!
