Wow, from reading your comments on this thread, I think you seriously miss the point. The point is awareness. Women get attention for their issues, there are who agencies designed to promote specifically women’s issues, especially in developed nations. However, men who have equivalent or even more dire issues are wholesale ignored. That’s the issue, we’re raising awareness for men’s issues, not saying that women can’t/don’t have issues. The pie is big enough for all of us.

No, literally every study/comparable survey shows that violence against men (IPV) is significantly underreported compared to violence against women. It’s also pretty undisputed that women have an easier time getting help for IPV than men do. I really like this response. I think in traditional masculinity (of the past say century), aggression and physical prowess was likely held at a higher standard than it is today. Though I agree, homophobia, misogyny and xenophobia etc, are not masculine traits nor are they part of how men conceive of themselves. I view the opening of DV shelter for men as recognition that men can be victims. A core belief of many people is that masculine men cannot be victims because of their innate strength. I feel people are trying to change masculinity by emphasizing “toxic” masculinity as the source of men’s issues (which it isn’t, and it would take a long time to explain why), such as being strong, stoic, high emotional regulation etc as part of that toxic masculinity.

From my personal experience, you should be fine if she feels as though you’re dedicated to her. In the past, I’ve found that virgins have yet to develop a more realistic perspective on sex and tend to think that just because you guys are “sexual” or even having sex, you’re going to stay in an exclusive LTR. They aren’t accurate but that doesn’t mean they aren’t useful. They help quite a bit in giving me an idea of where I am and how I’m progressing because I’m not exactly using the number that’s on the screen but the change over time. If you keep your diet consistent and constant and also weigh yourself at the same time of day under the same circumstances (immediately after you wake up — or right before you go to bed) you can more accurately measure the change in body fat composition.
