“Stupidity tax” — this made my day lol. I’m definitely gonna use it from now on

My former mil had two divorces and so did all the grandparents. Should have seen it coming but didn’t

I feel you man. It was my first Christmas alone and it fucking sucked. For whatever reason I decided to do my mandatory parenting class for the divorce. That was an even more depressing bad choice. But at least there was good football on for a bit of a distraction. Next time I’m going to be alone on Christmas I am definitely leaving town just to keep my mind somewhere else

My opinion is that marriage counseling only works if you both take it as a given that you will remain married. Counseling can improve the relationship between two people who want to be together. It can’t convince someone to stay who already decided to leave or is on the fence.

Hang in their brother. I’ve had these thoughts too. Your kids will remember the time with their dad. I live my life for my kids even if my stbx is plotting to sabotage shit at every opportunity. Even if your kids tell you they love/like her more and dislike/hate you at some point, they need their dad and you need to be there for them.

Unless you are in Florida. The new alimony statute now says: “The court may consider the adultery of either spouse and any resulting economic impact in determining the amount of alimony, if any, to be awarded.”

I get it and I know the social media is curated crap. My hangup is when I bring this stuff to her the response is that she hasn’t noticed anything like that. If that is a lie then why lie about something as important as this? It doesn’t even have to do with me or our marriage it is one of our kids. If it isn’t a lie, I just feel like I’m doing something wrong here or my daughter likes her better and I just have to live with that

Yes we go to the playground often. I take them swimming almost every day. I put out a slip and slide in the yard yesterday. I basically clear off my calendar to try to do meaningful stuff with them

Wait until you see what is on those apps. It is an absolute dumpster fire out there. The amount of entitled, curated bullshit is absurd

The absolute crazy thing about your reply is how you got there without two pieces of information I didn’t share before. The first is that the other guy moved right before my STBX asked to move and our new city is much closer to where he is. The second is that right after the other guy moved, she started taking monthly weekend trips by herself to, as she put it, focus on herself and destress. Those trips happened for about six months until I looked at the phone records and discovered what was goi…

I was in a similar position. I found a local softball league and decided to sign up. I’m on a team with a bunch of strangers but I hope it will be fun. It only cost $80 for a 7 week season

After months I finally did this. After my wife told me she was unhappy, not in love, etc. about a year ago I frantically tried to do everything I could to improve the marriage. Within two months of getting this message from her, she said she wanted to move to a nearby big city. We had been living in a smallish town of about 75,000 people and, I thought, happily. My wife, however said she hated the small town. I of course said I would move if it would move if it would make her happy and thought i…

So glad to read these comments. You could copy and paste my situation. I just need to finally find the strength to permanently stop giving a fuck and not fall into the “what if we could work it out” trap that always sets me up to be manipulated by her.

Same here. I was clearing out my garage and found cards, notes, gifts from her and had one of these episodes the other day. It still hurts for me five months after she moved out.

How do you mean? I think I’m a fairly attractive guy and I’ve never had a woman straight up ask me if I want to have sex

It just feels so reassuring to hear other guys describe a situation so similar to my own. My wife said she was done in June 2022. I begged, pleaded, went to couples/individual counseling, dates, trips, moved cities, all for her to have an emotional affair (at least) and ultimately move out in May. Even since then I’ve felt so sad and still tried to get her to come back. Finally last week when I asked again I got an hour of the most awful, untruthful, vile shit thrown at me and it finally hit hom…

This is remarkably similar to my story. I’m feeling the way you are. The main difference is after she said she was done we sold our house, moved to a new city because she wanted to (I believe to be closer to the guy she had been having an emotional affair with), and rented an absurdly expensive townhouse she wanted because I thought it would help us work on things. Well, she was already done and knew it and moved out six months into a two year lease. Now I’m stuck with the ghosts of the place we…

I don’t know about others here, but I really would just like to have sex without any relationship. I was in a dead bedroom for the last year of the marriage and starfish sex for at least five before that. I haven’t had sex in almost a year and a half and I am getting restless. But I sure as hell can’t imagine giving the time and attention to a relationship when I need to be focusing on my kids half the month. Any advice is much appreciated. And i’m not really down for hookers btw. Money more tha…

Just tonight my 8 year old daughter she doesn’t love me and only loves her mom and wants to stat with her mom. It absolutely destroyed me. I know it is because i actually make my kids do some chores and don’t buy them candy or toys every other day like when they are with their mom but it still cut me so deep. I thought about throwing in the towel and moving away and just giving my ex the kids if that is what my daughter wants but i stopped myself after taking some breaths. Just part of the bulls…

This is me too man. I just told her I wanted a divorce today then within 20 minutes asked her to move back in and go all in with me. She moved out about a month ago and we have two kids together. I just can’t imagine not being around for half their lives.

Here’s the thing, if you were in a dead bedroom for a year or more before your split, how can you possibly tell people to wait a year before trying to have sex with someone/date???

Exactly. Happened twice. She said it was my fault both times because I didn’t pay enough attention to her

Same situation as you. My stbxw chooses part time because she likes the “flexibility” which really means doing nothing most of the time (kids are in school). A couple of lawyers I consulted with said income could be imputed to her because she used to work full time before kids but there is no guarantee a judge would do that. It would require hiring an expert and basically just gives negotiating leverage over alimony/cs

What apps did you use? I have no idea where to start with something like that
/r/Divorce_Men20/05/23 01:34 PM
You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
