School, video games, anime, discord. Yep, pretty much how my life has been for a long time. Just swap out school with work now. I think its also because men suffering is just less noticeable than women. First, there's the obvious, we're heavily discouraged from venting. But I also think, sadly, some of it is biological. A lot of people bring it up, at least online. Men being physically attracted to most women— with few exceptions. Most women feel the opposite: repulsed by most men— with few exce…

I feel like each gender (as a collective) are dealing with the extremes. Women are validated too much, and men too little, but both are detrimental if taken too far.

Neither side really does anything about it, but the left is a bit worse since they're openly hostile about it. The right is more like "yeah, this thing does kinda suck. So anyway, can you do us a solid and hop in that meat grinder anyways?"

Not wrong. I still vividly remember compliments I recieved years ago, be it from a guy or girl.

Yeah that makes sense. I guess that's the other half of it too. It probably takes a while to adjust because there are a plethora of... quirks, for lack of a better term, that will go unnoticed as a woman but will 100% stand out like a sore thumb as a man. Yeah making more male friends if you don't have much can definitely help.

I actually kinda feel for trans guys because they're signing up for what's essentially the life equivalent of a naked Dark Souls run with no weapon. They don't get the physical benefits that come with being a man, and they lose whatever social benefits they had as a woman— the latter being worse depending on how much they "pass."

Phrases like "down with tradition, body positivity," etc. Are for women only. Most men still have to hold up their end of the bargain at least. But usually they have to be even more traditional to account for both themselves and the woman's lack of it.

I've thought about this. Having to "game" your way into someone becoming attracted to you doesn't seem feasible. Especially if, as you said, your goal is a long-term relationship and not just a hookup. There's also this lingering feeling I have that both genders have an incentive to not be completely honest about this. Most women wouldn't admit to this because then they'd have to acknowledge that they can be just as shallow as they accuse men of being. Most men wouldn't because then they'd have …

Someone told me once that one of the reasons women view themselves as perpetually oppressed despite having a lot more privileges, especially compared to the past, is because they tend to only pay attention to higher status men. Famous artists/actors, high ranking athletes, politicians, CEOs, etc. Normal, mid guys are damn near invisible to them. Would explain a lot, if true.

I find it interesting how she claimed men who immerse themselves in hobbies flock to female-saturated spaces. That couldn't be further from the truth. Video games, trading cards, tabletop rpgs, etc. are generally male-dominated hobbies. She's conflating a lonely man with a male feminist. If anything I've seen the inverse way more often, where women will join male hobbies— not because of any genuine interest in the thing itself— but just because there's a large concentration of men there that cou…

(Yes yes I know, pot calling the kettle black.) I've found that the more "uwu wholesome, positive vibes only, no negativity ever" someone is, the more of a POS they are in reality. Like they're trying to compensate by telling the whole world how nice they are.

I think this is a very much overlooked factor. You can literally lose not only your livelihood but everyone's trust in an instant, just off of the allegation alone. As you said, if the allegations are true then yeah, you get your comeuppance. But if it's false, the onus is still on you— the innocent— to pick up the pieces and clean up the mess your accuser left behind. The stigma is very hard to scrub off.

Does it matter? If there's a male equivalent that receives similar amounts of disdain to the "high body count town bicycle," it would be a male virgin who went too long without losing it. Promiscuous men are, at least in comparison, celebrated (not just by men, women too) because it's harder for guys to get laid. Men are sexually attracted to most women just on the basis of them existing, but I don't think they feel the same way about us. Or put simply, it's as someone else below me put it: The …

I think you just unlocked a repressed memory I had, lol. I can't think of too many that I can definitively prove. There is one I remember now, however. Not related to grades, it was behavior. One of my worst bullies in elementary school was a girl. For the sake of simplicity we'll call her Jenny. The bullying was mostly verbal, but Jenny would get physical sometimes, and there wasn't much I could do since everyone believed in the whole "men shouldn't hit women no matter what" principle. Even wor…

I've suspected it for a while now. Think I received my confirmation a few days ago. My brother got in a rather heated argument with mom. Her final words were "you will never win an argument against me. I always win. You'll never see me lose!" While it may be within her right to say something like this because "her house, her rules. Happy wife happy life" whatever, it was a very strange thing to say. Mostly because she always harshly criticizes Trump for acting that way, making everything about h…

On the "liberal vs conservative" part, I think you have it a little off. I mostly agree with women back then possibly being more conservative than their husbands because it was safer, and they value security over freedom while men tend to do the opposite. However, I don't think it's conservatism in itself that they favored. I think women (as a collective, I'm sure exceptions exist) tend to side with whichever viewpoint is more socially acceptable for the given time period. Back then it was steep…

"men want sex and will f*ck anything" I agree for the most part. Just want to point out that "anything" is a misnomer. Most guys do have some standards. It's just that, at least as far as physical attraction is concerned, their threshold is lower compared to most women. "Anything" just points out how much less picky we are than them.

Ouch, that is definitely worse.

This is a big one: if you're stuck in a situation that's out of your control, no one's coming to save you. You have to, figuratively speaking, build your own steering wheel and make the situation controllable again. Not that it could never happen to a woman, but it applies especially to men since we're expected to be the breadwinners, trailblazers, etc. So when you're stuck like that, it kinda feels like everyone around you is impatiently waiting for you to "man up" and change things as if it's …

I feel it sometimes. Like I have to constantly keep climbing relentlessly, and if I stop/stagnate for even a second, even if it's something beyond my control, I feel like garbage. As if I have a duty to society, even though I know full well it tolerates me at best, and hates me at worst. Strangely though, maybe I'm just used to it, but I'd much rather be a man than a woman.

It almost seems like the female version of a man taking steroids and living in the gym to become bodybuilder-level jacked and then realizing that most women don't find that look very attractive at all. At least not enough to overshadow a lack of money/status/etc.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
