This sounds like it could've been written by me. My ex-wife has been making up all kinds of stories to get my family on her side... I'm sorry you're going through this, too.

Oh I agree 100% that it's BS! Unfortunately, it's the law here in Canada. Probably different jurisdictions have different laws, but it's definitely something more men should at least be cautious about.

I married a single mother, now going through a divorce. I'm on the hook for child support for her daughter. Not my kid. Because she lived in my house, I'm deemed by family law to have "acted as a parent" and therefore stuck paying child support for years for a kid I'll probably never see again. I really wish all boys were educated about this potential outcome long before they ever met a single mother.

"Don't look back - you're not going that way" - Quote I saw tonight on a wall at the new restaurant I went to. By myself. On my motorcycle. Didn't even have to ask if it was ok. Wild.

Thank you for being here and sharing. I'm going through the process and have taken so much from this subreddit already, I'll be eternally grateful. Guys like you who have already been through what I'm going through have helped me tremendously. I'll keep coming here after my divorce is final for two reasons: 1. Maybe I can help someone else going down the path., and 2. To keep reminding myself why I SHOULD NEVER GET MARRIED AGAIN!! To OP who just moved her shit out: congrats brother! It's a big s…

He won't be rich for much longer if he keeps taking single moms and their kids on holidays! 😂

Unfortunately hard to prove. She will say timing is a coincidence and I have no evidence to the contrary.

Yeah, I've done the calculator. Problem is I input that we have 1 child, she inputs 2 children because HER daughter lived with us and that kid's father is a deadbeat.

Well, I still need to live somewhere.. and the mortgage on this house is lower than I'd pay in rent for a comparable home in this area

In Canada, or at least Alberta, we have to be separated a whole year before either party can file for divorce

She does work but my income is more than double hers. And I bought the house right before we got married.

Yeah, I'm an idiot for opening myself up like this. Should've known better. Especially since Canada is literally the worst place in the world to be a man.
