My wife of 6 years left me with 2 kids (2 years and 4 years old), without notice and now won't let me speak with the kids at allDo all of your talking through lawyers. At this point she is not your wife she is your enemy. Be prepared for a full assault of your life. You will probaly have false accusations levied against you and a 50% chance of a restraining order. GET A LAWYER! Tomorrow. A good one. Don't fuck about. Your shit will be off the rails if you don't start to protect yourself now. Document and record all of your assets, bank account balances, etc. Block your credit cards. Transfer 1/2 the money in your joint a… | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/07/26 10:53 PM
Your Divorce Spotify PlaylistI just listened. Holy Cow! So much on the line of thought I had for while. And kind of still do! | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/07/26 12:25 PM
How long did you wait after your divorce to start dating again? And how long is too soon?Stay away from the apps. I met my current girlfriend oragnically and we've been together for 4 years now. Before that it was a year here, 6 months there. Use reddit to find a group of like minded people, hiking, trivia, whatever. Just get out there. Good Luck! | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/07/26 11:03 PM
How long did you wait after your divorce to start dating again? And how long is too soon?I don't know really. I'm a completely average looking guy with a good sense of humour. I had worked with her for a while but other than that I don't really know. I think just being honest and attentive goes a long way. It was fun, don't get me wrong and I felt very alive. The age gap is what eventually put an end to it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/07/26 11:01 PM
A new day, a new triggerHooooo. The stalking. It's like tearing at a hangnail. But you have to stop. Move forward. It's hard. Believe me, I know but it's no good for you. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/07/26 11:26 PM
How long did you wait after your divorce to start dating again? And how long is too soon?I was 51 years old when I got divorced. I had struggled for 5 years before that and the last year was desolate. So, when a woman 18 years younger than me let it be known that she would like to go on a date, I did. It was fabulous. And disastrous. One week after my divorce we spent a weekend together. She made me feel sexy and wanted and talked on the phone and sent nude pics and it was amazing. Inside, due to lots of issues, I knew it probably wouldn't last. My kids disliked her, the generationa… | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/07/26 11:19 PM
Dude the numbers aren’t adding up. Whole lot of married men.An album from the ancient days, Billy Joel's "The Stranger". We all have a face we put on the outside world. My wife and I were a "super couple". Been through some shit and survived. Always happy, etc... The last 5 years of my marriage was a real struggle. No trust. Anxiety. Infidelity. If was awful. And yet when I told my closest friends about the divorce they were shocked. We put on a great show for the outside world and you probably did too. The face your friends put on to the world is genera… | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/07/26 06:59 PM
How long after divorce you felt like you are yourself again?26 years married. Last 5 it was falling apart. 7 years post divorce. I don't feel like the "man I used to be" There are parts that are there. My sense of adventure, my work ethic, etc. I was never one to worry but now I am always thinks about my OSD syndrome. Other Shoe Dropping. I've lost my sense of permanancy. I'm in a long term, 4 years+, relationship but I can't shke the feeling something could go wrong at any moment. That's the downside. The upside: Once I accepted my new life and opened m… | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/07/26 11:49 AM
Confused, sad.I think that there are two terribly important people you need to talk to. 1) A therapist. Heavy Duty. Twice a week to get grounded and prepare for wahts coming. 2) A lawyer. Divorce and a good one. They've seen it all. Between those two you should be able to get some good advice. Your wife sound like she has a mental illness and without therapy and/or medicine she may not ever get better. Even if you love her, you andd by your extension your ability to take care of the children is tantamount. Ge… | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/07/26 07:38 PM
Be HopefulThe killer is, mine isn't even a "worst" story. My kids were adults. Some men lose the ability to intercat with their children. Some spend years and thousands of dollars defending themselves against false accusations. Some find out they were raising kids that aren't theirs. Its an awful. awful system. | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/07/26 01:56 PM
Be HopefulI don't know what you do to try and maintain but hiking helped me a lot. I would do 7-12 mile hikes with chill music in my headphones and let zen takeover. I walked from Ocean Beach to The Embarcadero one day. It helped. | /r/Divorce_Men | 16/07/26 06:50 PM
Be HopefulShe claimed that because I earned a marksman badge in basic training in 1986 I was capable of doing this. Never have even owned a gun. | /r/Divorce_Men | 16/07/26 06:48 PM
Be HopefulRight? It's seems oxymoronish. I did want some sort of relationship. I thought what I wanted is sex. In the end I met my partner organically. That is a much better fit. | /r/Divorce_Men | 16/07/26 02:07 PM

Do you still keep your ex pictures together?I downloaded all the pictures of my ex wife, put them on a flash drive and gave one to each of my sons. I then deleted every picture of her or us that were taken over 25 years of marriage and 30 years together. I sat in the backyard by the fire pit one night and burned everything. Pictures, cards, love notes, clothes, tax papers. I haven't spoken to her for 7 years. Have only seen her in court. She tainted every good memory I had of our life together. She for sure didn't give the ring back. I ho… | /r/Divorce_Men | 10/07/26 01:04 AM
Almost finalized divorce and find out oldest is not mine. How to handle this mess?Regardless of the genetics that child is yours. You are their father and they love and trust you deeply. In this process your children are as important, if not more important, than you. You are giving them an example and what you do will inform them for the rest of their life. Do what a father would do. IMHO if you are going to drop this then speak to the child first, gently, and be prepared for them to be shocked, hurt and devastated. Let them know they are loved by you and always will be. | 3 | Towards male equality in divorce and standard litigation playbooks women useThis all tracks with my experience. I certainly felt as though I was the lesser in the conversation. Part of the standard playbook is getting a restraining order. This requires no actual evidence (I think it's actually unconstitutional), and the in the courts you are an abuser. It tilts everything in the womans favor. My children were adults but false accusations made were: Stalking Anal Rape Hiding in the woods to shoot her All false. So, this is pretty standard stuff now. | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/06/26 12:14 PM
My [40m] 5 year marriage to my wife [40F] just blew up and my wife ended up in jail and I don't know what to do.Your wife is now your enemy. Get a lawyer and an order of protection. Name her family in the order of protection as well. Domestic Violence committed against a male is every bit as heinous as being committed against a female. Protect yourself and protect your children. Her caeer is no longer your concern. Your concern is YOU and your children. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/06/26 01:39 PM
Father’s Day aloneMy children (M31, M29) have not wished me Fathers Day for a couple of years. I don't think it has anything to do with divorce just that their lives are their own and in general society tells them Mothers matter more. My youngest hasn't really spoken to me in three years and you know what, it's just the way it is. Have grace for yourself. Understand you are doing the best you can. Time heals a lot of wounds. Reach out if you want a personal conversation. | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/06/26 07:37 PM
Any men here deal with suicidal ideation? How did you get through it?Talk to your therapist. Openly and honestly. Let them know you are considering self harm and just talk, cry, rage do what you need to do but do not commit suicide. You are amazing. There are people who love you. You deserve to enjoy everything life will be giving you. It’s hard now but it won’t be forever. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/06/26 01:12 AM
7 Years in and most advice stays the sameMy ex did everything she could to gain every advantage. She had a restraining order taken out on me and then had me arrested the night before my rebuttal so I couldn't make it to the hearing. It was extended another year. She accused me of rape, of hiding in the woods to attempt to shoot her (since I had a marksman badge from the Army, never mind I have never owned a gun). All the while suing me every 6 months for more money. I bought my house and gave her half of the equity and struggled to pay… | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/06/26 10:25 PM
