Leela is definitely a HVW. She is portrayed as having all of the same insecurities and fears as the rest of us, but she tends to make good decisions because she is "smarter" than her male colleagues. She is usually the one that is brave, saves the day, and is in charge. Zap Brannigan is by far the most accurate portrayal of the very worst kind of f*ck boy and her interactions with him are always funny because she sees right through him and always puts him in his place. Also, I agree Fry is total…

It is very sad. When I had kids, I thought thats what you were supposed to do. My mom had raised me quite adamantly that "once you have children, you cease to exist". And not in a lamenting way; she was instructing. When my kids hit middle school and suddenly didn't "need" me as much, I found myself completely lost. I had no name outside of "mom" or "babe, can you [...]". I didn't exist. I had no friends, no hobbies, no interests, and even worse, no opinions outside of "what is best for children…

Yes yes yes yes and yes. The fact that it plugs in instead of taking batteries is worth every penny in my book. And I agree with the person who said it's strong enough to use through your clothes - makes keeping it clean much easier. I even sewed a cover for mine lol

I felt the exact same way watching Call The Midwife. When I realized that not only are all the main characters women and the show completely centers women, I was awestruck. I actually started paying closer attention to the background characters and realized most of them were women as well. I couldn't stop thinking about how amazing that was while I was watching it. There are a couple of male "main" characters, but I use the term loosely because they aren't in every episode and when they are, the…

I absolutely loathe that question. I read this thing that said men ask "how do lesbians have sex?" and yet lesbian or girl on girl p*rn is one of the most searched categories. They know, they just get off on hearing you talk about it. And yes absolutely how pathetic for men to not think anything but PIV is even sex. I feel SO sorry for the women they sleep with.

Call The Midwife is an awesome show centered on women. Its not everyone's cup of tea, but it does center women completely. There are only a couple of male characters, they are supporting characters and not distasteful and in the 9 seasons (so far) there were only 2 or 3 episodes that focused on one of the men as a main plot line. Other than that, the show is about midwives in the 1960s in England. It is very good!! Another good one, still in the history genre, is Home Fires. That one is about th…

Agreed! We taught our sons (now 19 & 25) to do laundry when they were 11, respectively. We then bought them towel sets (one color for one kid, a different color for the other) and from that point on, they were responsible for thier own laundry and thier towels. I've not done anyone else's laundry but my own since; my husband does his own as well. I've gotten a few frantic "Mom can you put my clothes in the dryer, I forgot?!" texts once they got jobs but thats about it lol

Seen the movie, it's actually one of my favorites. But I'm a huge monty python fan. This part specifically is a conversation between a father and son, the son is explaining how much he does not want to marry the woman he is betrothed to and the father is asking what's wrong with her. While listing her attributes, he says "[...], she's got huge...(long pause for emphasis) tracts of land" while doing the "big bosom" gesture. It's juvenile and yes, derogatory. The fact that someone would text you t…

Same. I literally only made an acct on reddit for this group specifically. The advice you ladies have given and the support all the women give to one another, uplifting one another; I will follow wherever FDS ends up. This is one of the only places I feel safe online these days.

First time ever responding, please be gentle. Although it is true that vasectomies are safer than tubal ligation, the point someone made about still being fertile is why I personally chose to go through the procedure rather than my husband. I don't want any more children - ever. I dont care whether my husband does or not, I personally don't ever want to be pregnant again. Whether we stay married, split up, or as the example above stated: if I got raped, I don't ever, ever, ever want to be pregna…
