I feel bad for the dude. He's got blood running down his neck from the baton and his bitch girlfriend/date/hooker caused all the trouble. I wish it was OK for her to get batoned in the teeth.

I think what makes it cloudy is that the images of overly muscular men is marketed at men, while the overly sexualized women are not marketed at women. While women tend to like men who have low body fat and big muscles, they don't like the Gears of War look as much as they like the Solid Snake/Devil May Cry look. Women like lean muscular dudes and it's only a misconception in the man's mind that if women like abs and pecs, they must LOVE huge pecs and abs. Just like, from women, it's a misconcep…

I've always thought that while women do have a crazy standard of beauty to live up to, the standard of beauty for men is way harder to achieve. Women have makeup and hair and nails and shaving, yes, but they don't have the expectation of ripped abs and big biceps that men have. Ostensibly, the only thing that takes a lot of physical effort for women to achieve is the part where they have to be thin (and not even extremely thin, and unless you're already fat staying thin isn't that hard). If I were talking about a wife I had kids with, then I would probably be for pooling assets for the family. This is my girlfriend though. I'm 25. Not ready for family yet and if I tried it'd just be playing house.

I dunno. I just Like the idea that two independent, viable people choose to be together because they actually enjoy each other's company. That isn't to say couples that pool assets don't enjoy each other's company and aren't equal financially. I just think independence is attractive in a partner.

We grade our rent for the same reason. Good on you guys for being an informed couple.

Exactly the same situation here. We split certain things, like rent and electric, but we both have separate finances and live more like roommates in that aspect. The 'two become one' bullshit is far past in our society and we both find it empowering to be two distinct people coexisting rather than one unit.

Very much so. I prefer to keep my girlfriend's and my bank accounts, bills, etc. separate for this very reason. There's nothing more attractive than a girl who can balance her own check book (and has her own money she works for).

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
