She wasn't though, so that's a moot point. Nothing said or done about Meghan is worse than what any other woman in the royal family has endured.

Kate had topless photos taken without her consent published on the cover of a magazine. How is that not worse than anything published about Meghan?

"If she was white" Have you seen how other women in the royal family are treated? Diana was literally hounded to her death by journalists but that's okay I guess, because she's just a privileged white bitch?

There are many reasons to dislike Meghan that have nothing to do with her colour (I didn't even realise she was "black" until I read about it. She looks like a white person with a bit of a tan). Rumours from multiple sources are that she's a bully and caused several staff to quit. She has direspected the royal family by splashing her dirty laundry all over the front pages, while claiming she wants privacy. Made false claims about why her son wasn't given a title and about being married before th…

Exactly this! This is how the royal family works. It's a family but also an institution with a hierarchy that is literally enshrined in law. It has nothing to do with anyone's skin colour.

The only reason I'm glad for the relationships I had before I was 25 is that they taught me what I don't want.

Thank you! That's exactly why I shared this. I spent so much time questioning myself and doubting my character. If anyone is reading this, having been made to feel there is something wrong with them by a man: it's not you, it's him!

After leaving my abusive ex, I spent years thinking I was a failure and incapable of having a happy, healthy relationship. He made me feel that all the discord in the relationship was MY fault, and if only I could do better, we could be happy. Well that was a complete lie. I've been with my fiancé for two years now and we have never, ever argued. It turns out I'm not actually emotionally instable when I don't have someone in my life who is abusing, controlling and manipulating me at every opport…

I mean when I think of hobbies, I think of something that someone invests time in over an extended period of time. I don't have time for more than two or three of those things, so maybe it was just disbelief? If someone told me they have that many hobbies I would be a bit confused.

Same... I can get through a job interview, but I can't hold onto a job. I can socialise and mingle at a party, but I struggle to build long-term friendships. In fact, I am a magnet for abusive people because I can't read the signs. I feel overwhelmed by the world every day and it feels exhausting just keeping up the bare minimum. I saw countless mental health professionals in my youth, and not one of them spotted it. My parents told me they had considered getting me assessed for autism, but it "…

Apparently the explanation for this is that every new medication that is trialed has to be weighed up against the risk of not taking it. So for men, a male BC pill is always going to be more risky that not taking a pill. But for women, the alternative is pregnancy, which comes with its own risks. And that's why it's much easier to pass new BC pills for women than it is for men, even if they cause potentially severe side effects. And the same reason why women are more likely to put themselves thr…

I was a big supporter of the pill, until I found out it was causing my chronic pain. I had four good years on it, so I had no reason to suspect it. Knowing what I know now, I would never have gone on it! It should be a medical scandal, that we are basically told there are very few risks and not given any information about what they do to our bodies long term.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy12/09/20 06:00 AM

That is not true. Just because you already have a hormonal imbalance, does not mean the pill can't fuck it up even more.

I had them with one particular ex. Accompanied by constant yeast infections because of the antibiotics I had to take for the UTIs. Honestly, if I had known it could be fixed by changing the man, I would have done so much earlier.

I didn't get diagnosed with autism until I was 28 because almost all the research is focused only on boys and men, and autistic women present differently. And then only because I had the money to go private. Severe difficulties with school and work, and multiple suicide attempts could have been avoided. I was told when I had glandular fever and developed severe post-viral fatigue that I was "just depressed" and put on antidepressants with severe side effects. This is despite having a POSITIVE bl…

Interesting! The very first thing I noticed when I first met my abusive ex was how "charming" he was. Later in the relationship, I saw him switch it on and off at will when meeting my friends and family, like a mask. Then when I left him, everyone said "Oh, but he was so nice!".

My ex said I was "selfish" because I told him he can drive to my house for a change. Oh and because I wanted him to attend my graduation ceremony. They literally think of us as slaves, don't they?

Right! I met my fiancé well before I found FDS but I'm here for the positive vibes and reminders to keep my standards high. I had abusive relationships in the past, and it's very healing to understand what really happened and how to avoid it in the future. This sub does such important work, I wish I had found it much sooner. I believe so many more women would be empowered (and I usually hate that word) to leave abusive men if they found this place.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy12/09/20 05:24 AM

This is really similar to what happened with my ex. I became severely ill a few months after meeting him (I now think it might be related) and my illness really kept me stuck with him, because I was having such a hard time just looking after myself. Those were the worst years of my life. I'm doing better now and I'm glad to hear you're doing well too!

I'm just speaking from my own personal experience when I say that I was made to feel bad for wanting that. Presumably other women in this sub also want that, or is this sub not about finding a partner?
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy12/08/20 03:26 PM

My number one goal was always to have a family and children. Can't do that without a partner. As much as I threw myself into my work and my hobbies and tried to make those my goals, they couldn't fulfil that deep longing I had. I have my own business and earn a small amount of money from my hobby as a musician. But I have never been as happy as I am now with my fiancé. Sometimes I think it should be okay to admit what you really want, even if it's not what society tells you should want.

When I was in an abusive relationship, I turned to the internet and relationship advice books for help. I ended up believing that I was doing something wrong, and that if I could just improve my communication/be more caring/win his respect, we would be okay and he would stop treating me that way. I am now engaged to an HVM and I don't do anything differently than I did with any of my shady exes. If anything, I do less. I literally never want to hear about how we have "straight privilege". Women who have relationships with or sleep with men run the risk of violence, abuse, rape, unwanted pregnancy or even murder. And even in the best of straight relationships, we still do the bulk of the domestic and reproductive labour.

My ex rubbished my academic achievements too. When I was writing my undergraduate dissertation, my ex read it and told me it's "shit". Holy shit, it gets worse! Behold, another of the comments: I understand that it hits too close to home to see the man you’ve planned the rest of your life with masturbating to other women, but try to get past your initial reaction and think logically. I agree that unkind comments shouldn't belong here. This should be a positive and supportive community. I also think that wallowing in bitterness is not the right mindset to be in if you are truly serious about dating. And at this point, I don't know if I would recommend this sub to anyone who is serious about dating, because it's full of people who are just here to complain. It's enough to make anyone completely lose hope and give up.

It should always be a red flag if a guy is impolite about your family. My ex did it – oh and blamed for that the fact that he had zero money saved because he wanted me to open a savings account for him. I own a successful business now and last I heard he was still living with his parents at 32.

I came from a good home. I've never seen my parents fight or even speak a harsh word to each other. They are happy together after 30 years of marriage. But I ended up in several abusive relationships and staying with more than one cheater (at least for a while). I always felt very confused about how to tell the good ones from the bad ones.
