Been through it. Didn’t report it. I highly regret it. Please call. She abuses you, she can abuse anyone. Your son asked you not to, but you are the adult. You have to protect him and his sister.

Multiple affairs, 100k+ of secret credit card debt, alcoholism, child abuse, and domestic violence. Only reason we have 50/50 custody is because the courts said I have to pay alimony even with full custody. I can afford alimony and child support, alimony and a full time nanny was impossible. Yes I still believe in love. My situation was so bad I don’t for a second think all women are like this.

Maybe women love sex as much as we do, and they feel comfortable enough to pursue it.

Bought myself a few nice, full grain leather belts that should be pretty versatile.

She sure did. I just wasn’t smart enough to recognize them. She was always financially irresponsible, always along for the ride in the relationship, and she has always used “light” violence to show displeasure. Unfortunately American society says women can do that, I see it everywhere.

Not normally. It could be state dependent, but generally you cant steal joint property. As for kidnapping, without a specific threat to the child’s safety or a court order that is violated, a parent can’t kidnap their own child.

I have been single for a long time for all intents and purposes. Few years at this point. Moved out, separated finances, have custody all figured out, etc. Only thing left is for her to actually sign. Stayed single and focused on myself, mostly work unfortunately, until about 6 months ago when I met someone.

I am nit even sure how I did it. Asked her out, our first date was sorta business like. Still a-lot of fun, but we talked about our wants, needs, and ideas for a relationship. Seeing how many boxes we checked for each other. Both of us want our last relationship and neither of us had time for anything less.

Working on that. Exercise isn’t difficult for me, never stopped. I think I am going to focus harder on fat loss, be the 40 year old with abs for a year. Getting back into hobbies is taking more effort though.

Previous partners specifically. I have never been one to care that much, but for some reason it starts creeping in my mind now. Did they make more money, were they bigger, better looking, more available, whatever.

Im pretty sure I have that. I was very slow and cautious at first, but she seems very safe. Also puts out a lot of effort, I am not sure I have ever been with woman who wasn’t a relationship princess.

Yeah…..shits wild. While dating my ex she use to punch me to show displeasure. Everything/everyone told me thats normal, women just do that. I said I didn’t like it, I was told to get over it. 10 years later, the punches became kicks and bites and were string enough to draw blood and leave bruises for a few weeks. I noped out of there. Fuck that.

“Cant make a wife out of a ho”. I was with my wife 15 years and she apparently never knew the definition of monogamy. I have been struggling with it for years, but the only true answer is to move on. Pride, shame, distraught, emasculation, whatever. All things you may feel, but none of it was you, it all the terrible woman who stayed under the radar for so long. Edit: just gonna add a comment I made on another post like this. Leave that bridge behind. Don’t do any more repair work, don’t worry a…

Yeah I am watching closely. My ex had issues that grew exponentially after childbirth. Not blaming her for that, but she changed. I learned the hard lesson of making sure you look at her parent’s relationship and other things. People are rarely cycle breakers.

Im not doing any of the things you are stating. Never said I wasn’t vetting her or anything like that. I asked if others had experience anxiety around dating post divorce and face some back ground. Your answers are the only ones going iff on a tangent. Never claimed I was head over heels for this girl or picture ing a wedding. Just asking if others had similar experiences.

I met her while she was in the job. Not sure why that seems suspicious.

We have been “divorcing” for years. The paper work is relatively recent, but we couldn’t even afford to start the process until recently.

Actually neither of those. She does forensic work.

Very safe so far. How direct she is comforts me. Its clear she is very cognizant about entering into a relationship instead if blindly riding emotions.

I guess I disagree with it not being my business how she spends spousal support. We have nearly been homeless and haven’t been able to put food on the table or pay bills because she chooses to spend our money on frivolous crap. My very real fear is that she will take spousal support And not use it for things like rent and groceries. I am scared to death that she is going to be evicted from wherever she lives and not tell me, making her and my child Homeless. And I have these fears because she’s …

I wish I could leave. She trapped us both in this house with 75k in credit card debt.

Yeah this goes way deeper beyond than a political candidate. Trumps not the issue, I certainly understand disgust with the man. Shes asking you to cut ties with family, or face divorce. Thats a major issue, regardless of what motivates her to make that ultimatum.

Best I can tell it was childbirth. She became a completely different person overnight. Negative, angry, unhappy, etc. Immediately seemed to be living for an escape.

My wife seems to have had a midlife crisis. She just stopped taking on any adult or parent responsibility. She just drinks, goes out to bars, and spends money. Has this speech about how she missed out on living when she was young. Now shes pissed at me because family and friends are paying for my side of the divorce and are pushing me to get full custody because of her alcoholic behavior. She doesn’t get the idea of not being able to have her cake and eat it too. She can go pretend to be a colle…

I think this can go for either sex. There are absolutely both men and women you love transactionally. However, it certainly feels like it skews towards women. I have known many men and women who have divorced, I have worked in multiple occupations that have high divorce rates. It definitely feels like most divorced men I know were faced with a partner who left/cheated/etc for what seem like minor issues that easily could have been fixed. The husband felt distant, he was to into his hobbies, his …

My situation seems very similar to yours. I have kind of settled into thinking I have to mourn the person she was, who she is in my head. The person she became is very different from the first. The woman I fell in love with is gone, metaphorically dead.

Fuck. I am little drunk and crying right now. Im feeling completely trapped in the feeling of being a failure for not making my marriage work. While also seeing that I cant go back. Theres a part of me that is glimpsing into a future where I am happy and wishing I had gone through this early. Though I still try to fight this in my heart. Your metaphor fits that. I may be the guard of my own prison, but that guard may be close to losing his job. Its the worst experience of my life.

Definitely agree being open to counseling would be great. My own example just highlights that. My wife and communicated great in our early 20s, but later as we transitioned to doing adult stuff it became clear we had different ideas. I/we tried counseling. She just rolled her eyes through it. In the end she thought relationship were self correcting. I believed a person had to actively steer. In the end she brought up divorce because she said she couldn’t be who I wanted, even though she also agr…

I completely disagree with this. I cant even count how many men(and women) I know in sexless marriages. My own included. Obviously this is a generalization, so I don’t believe it happens %100 of the time, but society has pushed men that they have to accept “happy wife happy life.” Men of my generation grew up watching tv that was over blown with the dumb husband trope. I see so many men who vent frustration about their marriage and other men encourage them by saying you’re doing the right thing …

Ever see one of Chris Rocks skits where he talks about how only women and children are loved unconditionally. Men have to provide a product. Be it literal like money, or metaphorical like attention or a constant loving feeling. That one hit me hard as I only just started a divorce process with an alcoholic adulterer. Oh and she started the divorce. Yet somehow I was ready to be by her side.

Oh, one kid. She has a part time. Unfortunately the biggest chunk of our money goes to credit card debt, then mortgage. Depending on the month we struggle to afford food.

Cant afford it. Only hope of paying off our CC debt is selling the house. For now we have a hard time affording food at times.
