Consensus is you don't deal but life isn't so black and white and what you're talking about is becoming universal in a narcissistic society. If you have to deal with these people because you work with them then the first step is just accept that this is how most people are. You can try and 1up and/or correct them (as you did with the pseudo-engineer) but it's not really a good use of your time and could even hurt you in the long run. In terms of strategy or a mentality, I would read up on the co…

When I read about your McDonald's friend all I could think of was "Cheese Burger Eddie" in the Adam Sandler version of THE LONGEST YARD: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7gR0dj9X6o This is definitely a common experience though. Someone else said it here...making up a white lie / logical excuse sometimes works best. For me, the issue is drinking. I'm approaching 30 and I'm realizing that I can't eat whatever I want, drink insane amounts of alcohol, and be good if I put in hours at the boxing gym …

Thanks man...glad you were inspired by it. I'll share the rest of the story eventually but in short I just "fell off" and burned out. Like one of those expensive fireworks you buy at the stand on the side of the road that's spectacular for 5 minutes then poof...it's all over and the smoke starts clearing. Found a new opportunity elsewhere but I'm dealing with a new set of challenges (personal and professional) where going "guns blazing" won't work again. With that, just trying to get to that sam…

Thanks man...there's more to it which I'll share eventually. In all honesty I burned out. Made some mistakes in my personal life that just made it impossible to keep up and maintain that level of performance. Moved on to a new opportunity elsewhere but it's kinda like beating one "boss" in the video game and now I'm going through the next levels to take on the next "boss" until I make my way to the final boss either where I'm at now or somewhere else.

You're right. It's a common reflection shared here. Nobody cares about the journey...they just care about the end product. Nobody cares about the preparation of the dish...they only want the food. People might think you're strong, smart, successful, whatever but the second you start going on about your little "Greek Tragedy" in getting there they lose admiration. It's argued that women do not like to see weakness in men. If you tell them about your weak moments and struggles in achieving whateve…

Of course man...no need to thank that's why this place exists but props on the response. Very well written and thought out. In all honesty...to me your response and the original post are like they were written by two different people. When you broke it down I understood the perspective. The type of content and analysis in your response is the type of stuff that I enjoyed the most about TRP back then (2 years ago). People sharing information, experiences, stories, and healthy debate instead of "l…

ha ha. Maybe one day I'll be a cool dad. I'm only 27. Too soon for that. What I was getting at was back then I was in the "anger" phase and I really went hard on the retired blog. Not to make money but it was a form of release...even anger management to be honest. Realized that I was focusing too much on the subject of women and getting over (arguably hamstering) the 6 year relationship I terminated because I was broke. I was struggling to find work and make a name for myself when I broke up wit…

It has been a long time since I posted and I don't use throwaways. Use the wayback machine. Cover my tracks. Son...have you been experimenting with sociology? Just kidding. Though it kinda reads like you're in college taking a sociology class and you had to read Durkheim's stuff on religion and ritual for homework while everyone is out getting laid and hammered before Thanksgiving. Not giving you a hard time...many of my college nights were spent in the library instead of partying thinking the same things. Just bringing it up because what you're talking about might be more about "anomie" than ritual. I…

Fakebook = digital skinner box when used in the way that the "cheap" people you describe do. Most don't realize it though. Google "skinner box" or watch YouTube videos on the keyword for an understanding of what it means. Another way to think about it from a red pill lens it is that using social media in this manner can become a form of collective digital AMOG'ing. Example: Guy posts a workout pic of himself and his progress. Overall it's harmless but let's really think about it... Not intention…

Immaturity juxtaposed with the appearance of "having my shit together" is my niche though. Nah...I get what you're saying. I still say "dude" and "man" and older people have pulled me aside and said "I really like you...you have potential but please watch your language and stop saying dude." It does signal immaturity and I'm working on it overall. Just glad the root issue was immaturity instead of an argument on titty semantics that's all.

I would AskTRP for the most red pill term to call "female breasts" but consensus would probably be something along the lines of "it's not what you call them that matters...it's what you do with them that matters." What you're talking about is called THE MACHINE but for many it's a prison that they don't know how to escape. Fact is you might not be able to escape. When that's the case you gotta do it like Pablo Escobar: Yes, I'm trapped in this prison but it's my prison. I didn't want the prison sentence or choose this but I'll construct the prison to my specs and have my people locked up with me and enjoy all the amenities I can manage to accommodate for myself in here serving not my time but YOUR TIME th…

I haven't posted here in a very...very...very long time. This made me LOL though and there's a point to my post despite my rambling style. I've never been a "strip club" kinda guy. Never would chase strippers let alone buy a woman a drink. Always thought both were a waste of money but my buddy wanted to watch the McGregor vs Alvarez fight not too long ago. He suggested we go to a strip club where drinks are cheap and our fine blonde mutual friend is a waitress/bartender. We decided against going…

I've never really gotten this type of hostility but my challenge is "temptation" and giving into distractions brought about by people who aren't as committed as I am. Examples: Buddy wants to get beer/wings. I really should be at the gym. I try to cut back drinking...people question why I'm not as high octane as usual. Little things like that...but it'd be foolish to think that they're trying to do that to harm me or "bring me down." It's more a matter of self-discipline in those situations. For…

"Most of your friends are more associates than they are friends, they won't give much of a fuck about you they're so busy doing their own shit the only time they think about you is when they want you for something that benefits them - need company to go drinking or some crap like that." This is true and it goes both ways. You have to be reasonably selfish about who you spend "social time" with. Spend it with people who are going to improve your lot. If not that, at least spend it with people you…

"Furthermore, I consider anyone who wants to claim my presence here as me being part of a 'community' or 'movement' to be full of shit." I agree with you. I know the threat of doxing people who post on TRP concerns many for legit reasons but it would only worry me if TRP took on more of a community/movement/cause angle. If TRP became a "cause" I'd bounce. I'm here for self improvement and the occasional 2 cents giving and honest advice/idea sharing. Not to become a walking cause. "Every great ca…

Fakebook: The Dead End of Western Civilization. I understand what you meant by being "calm and rational" but IMO there is nothing rational about engaging in a debate with someone over Fakebook. "Then there is the long-term kind, which Plato called virtue. Not necessary a life of good deeds but a life of value." There's a whole debate over what that really meant back then. The term is eudaimonia. It's commonly translated as happiness or "the good life" but human flourishing is more apt. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eudaimonia

Supposedly the article is BS in the sense that they misinterpreted the results and methodology: http://chronicle.com/blogs/linguafranca/2014/03/13/brevity-and-attractiveness/ Here's what the author of the Chronicle of Higher Ed article says: I read it with care, and found no reference whatsoever to verbosity, vocabulary, conciseness, sentences, or even language. "If you want to succeed you should strike out on new paths, rather than travel the worn paths of accepted success." John D. Rockefeller Don't go "MGTOW" or w/e because you want to be "part" of something. Generally speaking, that's not a new path. I guess it depends on how well you know that other person. Like if your father passes away and you ask to hang out with a close male friend who had a father who passed away recently also. The more you know each other and bond with them the more accepting they'll probably be when it comes to showing emotion. When it comes down to it, showing emotions or discussing a setback with another man is just a derivative of the old "man to man" talk. It can be serious, emotional, or even heated but it's ca…

It all depends on the person... I understand. That's just how it goes when you're writing for an audience. My only issue with something like "International Women's Day" is... "Every great cause begins as a movement, becomes a business, and eventually degenerates into a racket." If it's a cause you really believe in just be aware of those looking to degenerate it into a racket. As for bringing up TRP and PUAs they're admittedly easy targets and have the whole sensationalist vibe so I get that too. Not all of us hate women thoug…

Just my 2 cents... Almost all of your reasons/examples focused on the USA and Canada. Pussy Riot got an honorable mention...but it was about International Women's Day. No mention of female genital mutilation in Africa. No mention of the way women are treated in Muslim countries (honor killings for refusing to veil properly...not able to receive an education..etc). Don't want to make it ad hominem or personal...but still. Needs more "international" issues.

"This is one of the great paradoxes of glamour, which is that glamour runs on dissatisfaction. If you are to have glamour, you have to be able to in some way project yourself into some image or idea of a different, better life and different, better circumstances. Glamour always has this element of escape and transformation. So that requires acknowledging that you're dissatisfied in some way, and this isn't necessarily at a cognitive level." Good share. At this point I honestly have no clue what "bros" and women expect. What people expect is different from what people deserve. So in a sense I agree with you but I'd say "don't underestimate people." Anyway, I understand what you mean. I just think it's not something specific to women. knowledge "Everyone, I think, wants to converse." I'd agree in the sense that we're social creatures but there are some people who just like to hear their own voice. I'm sure you'll hear things like this less from men since we're conditioned to "suck it up" and not be a complainer/crybaby. If not that, you're probably a normal person who doesn't wear hardships on your sleeve. However, I think it's something that's becoming more prevalent with younger people (millennials). hospital I'd second that the issue is economics. It's not something that can be easily disregarded. I've always suspected that there'd be a big push to "deskill" doctors in a roundabout way sooner or later...esp with the Affordable Care Act. You can sorta see the trend with Phys Assistants, nurses, and NPs as you're saying. If they're looking to make those job titles preform more work instead of a MD I'd assume the intention is to lower the cost of providing health care services. In terms of lia…

Myself. When I first found TRP (the subreddit...not the concept since I've been reading Heartiste way back when it was "Roissy" before the new URL) there was a huge focus on self improvement, recovery, emotional development, transition, etc. Seeing daily posts about that really got me in "grind mode" for fitness, career, money management, mentality, etc. This got me "addicted" to progress. Well, the Volcker Rule killed prop trading for banks. That was the biggest blow to date. The revival in prop trading in the "institutional" sense is within the insurance industry which is exempt from the Volcker Rule. It's picking up...but not a trend that's exactly Forbes worthy. C) Need a pat on the back for getting even the slightest shit done. It can be frustrating for someone truly competent to be boondoggled and stifled. Hence why they tend to have that "asshole" vibe. Yeah...you're correct in terms of the timeline. And no offense taken at the hamstering comment because hamstering happens when you're emotional about something and there's a deeper issue. Which frankly, you've diagnosed 100%. The circle of friends at the party is the last part of that "old life" I hang on to. Nonetheless, I'm pretty sure I pulled the trigger on that last night though. Just never thought it would be the result of "white knighting" but lesson learned. To learn it you gotta live it…

Agreed...most of that "new year new me" noise is from females too. And they always post it on social media which isn't my cup of tea. I look at things on a quarterly basis...so come Q4 I set goals for Q1 the next year. But, come Q2 one might have to re-prioritize goals so in that sense the new year's resolution in the cliche sense is pretty lame. Still nice to see what kind of business the regulars on here are looking to take care of in 2014 tho.

Even if you don't have founding experience, at least you have a solid idea of what it takes and how things work. With crowdfunding and the JOBS Act it's as if everyone's trying to do the startup thing but most have no idea what they're getting into. Nonetheless, I'll try and get some resveratrol come June. See what the "control" phase does for 6 months and see how I do with the resveratrol for the remainder of the year. I'm excited about this.

While that resolution gets alot of shit for being cliche, it's the #1 resolution for a reason. You're right though...it's just that too many of the guys my age don't realize that consequences will never be the same if they keep up the habit of eating like shit. Drinking too. The way I see it, if I don't start now and nip this in the butt by the end of 2014 it's just going to get harder as each year passes. "never had FWB/ONS" That's understandable. A woman's sexual history isn't something I'm going to probe unless there's an STD or a child involved. While I'd like to know I'd never ask her directly. poly Ah okay...makes more sense when put into perspective. Very different from the isolation as punishment that I was getting into. Spreading yourself out socially is always a solid strategy considering the "strength of weak ties" and all that. Anger can be a great tool. It's stressed that you need to focus on yourself and many times anger is what motivates men to improve and change. However, the more you focus on yourself the more you'll become your own best friend. While it may not become 100% full blown malignant narcissism...when you're your own best friend you're usually also your own worst enemy. If you can learn to channel it, anger isn't a bad thing. But if it controls you it will show. Nobody likes an angry person.

IMO you're either born with it or you're not (most Machiavellians are "naturals" though don't confuse that with the "natural" ladies man or natural alpha). However, it can definitely be learned and applied with great success. But, in the event of a breakup and the "single life" thereafter I'd say you have to know how to say "no" to yourself as well. Don't care what anyone says... This is the most red pill song of the 60s: http://youtu.be/P4-nCfoIIEQ Listen to me, baby, you gotta understand... You're old enough to know the makings of a man. Listen to me, baby, it's hard to settle down. Am I asking too much for you to stick around? Every boy wants a girl He can trust to the very end Baby, that's you Won't you wait but 'til then... When I see lips beggin' to be kissed (stop) I can't stop (stop) I can't stop myself (Stop, stop) Lightning is str…

Good point on the text. I was able to change it up on the blog page to something that I think's easier on the eyes...white background, black perimeter, and a rounder "medium" size font. The countdown clock at the very top of the homepage is when the URL expires. Just a reminder to renew when the time comes and create as much content as possible until then. The other countdown clocks at the very bottom of the page are kinda personal but they're more or less deadlines on achieving a few personal g…

Yea man here's one that stood out: http://todaywasmeaningful.wordpress.com/2013/08/06/because-im-a-twentysomething/ Been thinking about doing a parody write up on that versus a straight up critique. But...if it helps I always like to talk about what girls "do" (work, career, ambitions, etc) to test waters so this breaks it down by industry: http://www.ignitesocialmedia.com/blogging/women-bloggers/

Very nice I'll bookmark that site. I'm on Twitter @SorkchopPANDWIC. Good to know there'll be somewhere for updates in the event TRP gets scrubbed.

Exactly. Not to mention that he didn't come across RP literature until his early 30s. He might have cultivated social skills, a better personality, and taken on a less conceited, fatalistic view on women had he come across RP literature during his college crisis.

Thank you. Like I said, I'm new to all of this and today so I appreciate the advice. I'll be working on implementing an RSS feed today.

I appreciate your feedback. The URL was a gift by someone who said I should "start a website" to share my ideas but honestly I didn't know how to do any of that....and I've never received any input on what sucks and what's good. I've learned during the course of it but I understand it's amateur hour all around in several regards. I'll start working on this now. I've already tried to fix a few of the font and design things on the blog but it's really helpful to receive some criticism and input. T…

Thank you man. I honestly don't watch Breaking Bad but I feel you. Personally I like to think about it as Caesar building HIS EMPIRE. When you have time check out this video I made: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTM5fvcdpj0 So much to learn about great men in history and the mentality they had.

Thank you. I appreciate it. And yes...DISCIPLINE. It's hard to cultivate at first but once you get it down it's potent.

In the "edited" version of Michael's story on my site I removed that exact line. While I did archive the original comment verbatim on another page, this little snippet of Michael's irked me too because it really shouldn't matter if the guy was black. I've seen, known, and to this day hangout with uber-christian types like "Michael" and yeah...they act like douches alot. I attended probably the most conservative university in America and "Michael" was everywhere. Nonetheless, Michael sounds like …

Yeah, I've noticed that too. I know her personally so I can say with confidence that she's not evil or harmful. She's just a 20something female. I've bookmarked about a dozen "girl blogs" like hers and always make sure they're written by a woman around my age just to understand how they think, feel, and operate. TRP reading outlets help but reading "girl blogs" also makes it much easier to interact with and understand them.

Ha ha, thanks man I'll be working on it today. I'm still learning and it's a huge work in progress but I do appreciate the feedback.

Hi all, thanks for the feedback, I'll be working on improving the legibility issue. I was told by my mentor that black backgrounds are easiest on the eyes for the long form copy I tend to write but I'll be going back to a white background and getting a better font. Other than that, I'm glad that many of you found the post helpful. Also, the young woman who writes the 20something blog is just an acquaintance of mine but nonetheless she is a very sweet girl. I've got nothing against her and I thin…

Thanks man I honestly know little about web design and the person who gives me input on the advice said that white backgrounds and small fonts cause people to go blind (I prefer white backgrounds). With that, I'll be going back to a regular font scheme soon.

It was a harsh read for me too...even though I was in a LTR all throughout college (kinda a mistake in retrospect but live and learn). It still struck a chord nonetheless. Be here tomorrow man...gotta hit the hay.

Yeah...I live in TX and the state swills Mexican beer like nobody's business. Lots of people down here drink it with salt around the rim + lime and when they venture to other states bartenders give them strange looks when they request a XX "dressed" like that. Not much of a beer guy personally but I can tell you that whoever is successful at distributing Yuengling in TX is going to make a killing. Stuff's impossible to get here.

Wrote this today over some drama I caught on film at a bar a while back: http://unsungman.com/blog/posts/tightrope-tactics/dj The story behind the videos is girl showed up with DJ, got into a fight with DJ in the parking lot, wouldn't roll down the window...consequences happened...hamster shitstorm ensued. I can see what OP's DJ bud is talking about...

Well the shenanigans with the DJ just brought to mind "Michael's story" on the sidebar since he complained about how good looking college girls always went for "loser" DJs and tattooed musicians instead of upstanding "good guys" like himself. It may not be 100% TRP theory or TRP analysis or even a fully fledged "field report" of sorts but it's kinda funny...figured it'd bring a Monday laugh or two. Now on the beer post... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pacifico Wikipedia classifies Pacifico as a p…

I touched upon this in my blog a while back: http://unsungman.com/blog/posts/boom--bust/alesia1 Here's the point I make... Men and women will be paid the same by paying both genders especially young people less over time. "Gender blind" economic policies (updates to globalization) will bring the American standard of living down a couple notches regardless of gender and this will bring the gender wage gap closer to parity. Why would a CEO care about paying women more so they can make the same as …

Hey man...I'm 24 and I know exactly what you're talking about. I was very disillusioned during college. However, during college I was in a LTR so unfortunately I can't say much about the experience of a single college guy. I left that LTR of six years about a year ago and have been working on self improvement ever since. And that's it...we're at the age where we have to focus on ourselves because we will not "hit the wall" like women do at 30 if we take care of ourselves and persist. Also, writi…

Yeah, maybe an error on my behalf issuing flair but there's a mix of RP and BP examples in the article. 3: Previously mentioned but of course a BP example. Guy lets himself go and girl experiences hypergamous enlightenment. 4: Guy tried some RP tactics (flirting to provoke jealousy) but at that age the effect was null. I think #4 is tough since getting old sucks. IMO it's a unique example. Shows that's it's best to lock down the RP mentality prior to a LTR/marriage (and of course maintain frame …
