Yeah. Even if it's not literally top down suppression, clearly there's a toxic feedback loop at play. Just recently a post that asked the very simple, arguably neutral question of "What Do You Bring to the Table" got overwhelmingly hostile responses, low upvotes, and generally wasn't allowed to flourish like it might've even a month or so ago. It feels like only the most closed-minded, mentally ill, and/or resentful men and women have stuck around to gripe and circlejerk. Meanwhile the better po…

Hmm. I definitely think the sub was doing better even a month or two ago, just based on the top posts. We went from heavily-sourced, data-driven high effort posts about the dating market AND confessionals from women about how hard it is dating other women to...whatever cringey stuff is Topping out this month. And granted, it's not all cringe. But I still see a much worse signal to noise ratio in both the daily submissions and what raises to the Top. Again, see this thread vs whatever made Top wi…

Do you think people are organically drifting away, losing interest, etc on their own? Or is it maybe that certain views/discussions are being actively suppressed? I hate to sound all Alex Jones, but I feel like it's partly the latter. Or at least that's how it's perceived, which in turn fuels an exodus.

Not sure why this got buried so badly (4 hours, zero comments or upvotes). I have a few guesses. Needless to say, it's another indicator that the sub probably isn't going in the right direction.

I've never met a self-identified male feminist that wasn't cringe at minimum or an absolute creep/predator at worst.

In the spirit of your own intro, OP, wouldn't the nuanced take be to say both genders need to understand each other better? You sorta hint at that in your body text, but it's definitely not your overarching argument or what your title says. Similarly, shouldn't you, like the Red-Pillers you critique, be trying harder not to beg the question (i.e. assume something's right, or proven, by default) on your own knowledge of the Truth in this area? Perhaps both you and TRP have mistaken assumptions an…

I watch/read porn, but I never pay for anything sex related. I don't subscribe to any sexy, or even sexually suggestive, content. Nor do I follow women specifically for such content on regular socials, and I kinda think following women for such content is cringe. As far as relationships go, I'd be willing to discuss things like porn use with a prospective partner. I wouldn't necessarily give it up just because she wanted me to, but I'd talk it out. And if we agreed together that neither of us ne…

I think maybe you're too caught up in the tribalism and the idea of team-based "winning," OP. You don't need to defeat some monolithic philosophy of The Blue Pill ™ or whatever. Bluepillers on the other hand seem to be much more amorphous in their beliefs, it seems more like they just try to refute what redpillers have to say with arguments detached from each other than to offer a concrete, coherent system that one can live by, or that can be scrutinized by the opposing party I mean, yeah. It's …

Whataboutism isn't generally a great place to start in terms of defending your own argument or argumentation style. Ultimately I'm just asking questions and and making suggestions. If you don't want to listen and just downvote me maliciously, that's your prerogative. Peace ✌️

Wikipedia is not a source, and it looks like you just paraphrased or copypasted anyway. Links to direct studies or at least articles (preferably news or journal articles rather than wikis) would be a much better approach. Not saying any of this to be combative per se, but you're not helping your argument by doing the absolute minimum to explain or verify your claims.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/22 05:51 PM

Which still brings us back to phrasing. You might think your sentence reads as inherently (and exclusively) anti-government, but it doesn't. It reads as anti paternity testing and possibly anti-government, at least to me. That's why I asked you about it.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/22 04:18 PM

I assume the corollary is mandated state **paternity testing at birth* which I also heavily oppose.* Can you explain this then? I'm literally just trying to understand your thinking, and right now it feels like you're dodging.

For sure. I imagine most women probably don't think about blowjobs much at all. I just find it odd and surprising sometimes when certain people (of all genders) bring it up as this negative thing. I think it's not inherently good or bad, just another sex act. I'd even argue it's baseline good, since it's an act of love (at least ideally). But then you'll hear guys say it's something only sloots do or women say it's degrading and anti-feminist. Meh. 🤷

"Jabbed" <,< Anywho, it's just not a big deal for me. I got the vaccine, but it's whatevs. All I'm concerned with is whether you're mentally and physically healthy. I mean, I have the study in the OP. I turned my notifications off for this thread, but most women said things along the lines of "lady in the street, freak in the sheets" or "no sex before marriage(ish), then everything's negotiable." I get the sense most women here would do it if their husband asked, but maybe aren't as keen in general (and probably not for an average bf).

I'm of two minds on this. Those who want to pursue a paternity test should. I absolutely think it should be every man's right. That said, I do recognize that it's accusatory in nature, like demanding to see someone's phone. So I think there's a chicken and egg problem here. Why have kids with someone you don't trust? (I'm an antinatalist, so view is technically just don't have kids at all.) One scenario I can see this making the most sense and being the most defensible for men: Soldiers, trucker…

I'm not sure that that other use was talking just about oral though. I was tempted to just make a thread about oral, but thought better of it. What I ended up with still isn't perfect as an OP, but at least it's less narrow or cringe than something like "Do You Find Blowjobs Offensive?" IMHO.

Two things can be true at the same time: You can have real obstacles to dating success that others don't, AND you can have an unhealthy mindset. Sometimes the presence of the former fuels the latter, and people use it as an excuse to complain rather than actually try to solve their problems. All that said, I do have sympathy for people who are open-minded and legitimately asking for help; I'm just not sure how many guys railing against the status quo in the dating scene fit that description.

better than sports bars As a corollary, and I've gotten shit for saying this before but fuck it: Guys should never even bother trying to hit on girls at sporting events, game nights, or other predominantly male venues and/or activities. Women who typically give answers like your example to the man in question do so to let him down easy - they wouldn’t necessarily say the same thing like on this sub. You're hitting on another essential issue at the heart of the Debate in PPD here, I think. Do people on here answer honestly (or at least not self-servingly) about their own behavior here? You're reading all that into his reply, and none of it seems like a fair/logical read tbh. I'll give you a real scenario: A guy asks out a girl. She agrees to a date, they go out, and things seem to go well. Then she tells him the next day "I'm just not ready for a relationship right now." Guy accepts this and backs off. Two weeks later the girl is dating someone else and really jazzed about her new guy. Now maybe the girl in this scenario truly wasn't ready for a relationship that day/week. But isn't it just as likely, if not more likely, that she just coughed up an excuse to turn do…

Yes and no. They're honest in their actions/choices in general (meaning they do what they actually want rather than what others want). But they're not necessarily honest about explaining those actions and choices. That disconnect is actually one of the fundamental cruxes of debate within this sub (and dating discourse in general).

That would be caring about what they look like, not the other women. They're trying to make themselves look better. I try to dress nicely. I compare myself to other men as a guideline. Do I not care about how other men look? Hell, try a more abstract analogy. I want to buy a product at the store. I see something listed as a "bestseller," and I'm influenced to buy it. Do I not care about other people's choices in this instance? Straight women are not trying to look good for women "Oh my God, woul…

Women don't really care how other women look. Broad generalizations and simplifications like that have a tendency to be false, or at least miss the exact bullseye of truth. If women don't care what other women look like, why do they compare themselves to each other? Women try to look good for men Some do, some don't. Lesbians have beauty standards too. Plus plenty of women say they want to look nice "for myself," not because of men.

Not necessarily counter, more a contributing factor. Free will still exists, at least for the purpose of this scenario. If I suggest that you drink Coke rather than Pepsi, you're still free to make your own choice at the supermarket or whatever.

Simplest rebuttal ever: They don't necessarily do it for men. I can't argue that women don't change their looks significantly based on trends, fashion, popular culture, et cetera. They do. But you stipulated "for men." That's an under-supported supposition in your thesis, I'm sorry. Who's to say it's not because women themselves just want to? Or maybe they do it for feminine prestige within women's communities. There's plenty of evidence to indicate that women are more fashionable, culturally su…

The importance of male look shouldn’t be a topic of controversy. It arguably isn't, except at the extreme ende of either "side" of the debate. For men, being good looking helps getting laid. It helps a lot. This should be a normalized concept not some controversial "redpill" stuff. One problem with the whole dating/relationship discourse is people's refusal to acknowledge when a "toxic" ideology/philosophy actually makes valid points. Physical: Glasses. An ugly girl with glasses isn't magically hot to me, but on an average to above average girl? Glasses are somehow a plus. I literally never understood why some people pretend like a hot girl in glasses is somehow not hot. (Stupid cultural tropes are stupid, I guess.) Behavioral: There's actually a lot. But I'd say having the right combination of sincerity and sweetness is super attractive. Some people are "nice," but insincere or performative at times. Some people are "honest,…

Mild little stipulation here: PPD is not a representative sampling of irl men. It's not even a representative sampling of average male Redditors, quite honestly. So if the majority of guys here say they want a careerist woman who asks them out and makes equal or more money, take it all with a grain of salt as far as real life is concerned.

I can. Example: A person fantasizes about a celebrity, then compares all their current and future partners to said celebrity. I totally get where you're coming from too. I think both marriage and kids are done too lightly, albeit usually separately. I guess, short of an elaborate psych eval and/or pre-emptive counseling, my thinking is that combining the two is the simplest useful test of a couple's convictions. You seem to feel strongly that you're right, and are heavily invested in your suppositions. I'm simply suggesting that you consider other viewpoints and possibilities. Interesting point. Basically, it's easier to scapegoat the other person as the bad guy. This way one doesn't have to consider their own behavior or the role they played in influencing the outcome. I can see how some of that might be going on. I do think, by way of gentle pushback, it's naive to assume a phenomenon people complain about is completely misunderstood just because it might occasionally be multifactorial. Some pushback on two fronts I think it's pretty common for extremely low income and destitute men and women. Don't date poor or destitute people. Firstly, this sounds like a classist copout to some extent, I'm sorry. You're scapegoating the less fortunate and advising others to avoid them like they're all bad people. Surely a behavior that is extant can't only be practiced by one socioeconomic group. I don't believe so. Most adults can afford to feed and entertain themselves. This isn't behavior…
