How are you not gatekeeping with sentiments like this? How is stating an experience gatekeeping? Normalizing the critique of feminism is a form of male advocacy. Our interests are not served by letting feminism run over us. I've mentioned in other comments I'm not against criticism. But saying "All X are Y" is not criticism. You don't think holding feminists to a higher standard is a good experience? Do you only do things you think will be a "good experience"? Hate is holding a group to a higher…

I was literally quoting the first women's rights convention in the US, July 19-20th 1848, when Stanton first drafted the Declaration of Sentiments. The moment universally regarded as the birth of the feminist movement. Were you? I read no mention of needing to manufacture fear or hatred in the Declaration of Sentiments. And you're incorrectly paraphrasing The history of mankind is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations on the part of man toward woman, having in direct object the establis…

I didn't even imply they are enablers. this is what I say: most men are forced to stay silent or tolerate sexual misconduct happening around them. .... forced .... Enabler: "a person who encourages or enables negative or self-destructive behaviour in another."

I mean I basically getting called a misandrist, what am I to do? Accept it?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates13/05/24 05:00 PM

I think this is a good reasoning to the point, and the fact it is so widely adopted by misandrist isn't helpful to the more mild section of the movement. I personally think more big feminist figures should indeed speak up against the radicals including figures like Rowling, who, imho, causes more friendly fire than actually helping forward women's rights these days. And no I don't think we should ignore the intersectional and radical feminism at all, I think it deserves to be rightly criticized,…

Apparently we have a different view of the origins of feminism and what it actually means to discuss the patriarchy theory. That's fine. But it does apparently mean I am not a left wing male advocate but a misandrist instead. Good to learn. Cya.

Okay well so I don't think we'll find common ground here then. To me, general populace belief is more relevant than loud minority belief, and I tend to not be immediately skeptical about people's answering in studies. That's fine that we differ in that, but it does not help us find an agreement.

I don't think I'm special at all. I'm just stating my experience up until now. I think sharing my experience is relevant here? If not I'll leave. they seem to be heavily you trying to police what views are and aren’t acceptable. I don't mean to police. If you are reading what I'm saying, I'm not claiming criticism of feminism is disallowed. I think it's allowed. What I'm merely doing, is bringing to light that not all feminism is anti-male or misandrist. Feminism originally was to uplift women's right to become equal to men. I listen to a few feminist podcast that actually dare to bring up men's issues just as much, because they recognize male issues to be stemming from the same cause as many women's issues. I think it's always important to be…

Sounds like what happens within the patriarchy too. The minority of men have the power and abuse it, and the majority is silent. Is it not hypocritical of us to try and down talk male violence yet generalize feminist misandry?

I've joined here only recently, but am already experiencing more right-wing/red pill rhetoric than actual left-wing advocacy here. I got downvoted for sharing my point of view on the fear of men and some wild redditor even reported me to suicide support. Not to mention that I'm reading mostly hate towards feminism, instead of actual male advocacy. Maybe that's recency bias as I've not been here long yet, but I don't think that's a good experience. It makes me doubt wether this is actually a heal…

The loud minority is. A lot of feminists I know are actually endorsing male feminists existing and appreciate men speaking up about issues just as much. That does not make kicking him out okay, and does make those feminists anti-male. I don't think he should've been attacked for speaking up about male issues.

You're a feminist so you naturally surround yourself with women who hate men None of the women I know hate men, and most feminists I know are so in the positive sense. (I.e. the equality stuff not the misandry stuff). All I need to know btw that you're claiming this without me ever indicating anything of the sort. You know this is a left wing sub right?

You don't combat it. You don't fight misandry with a defensive argument. When someone is charging you with a headlong rush, you don't brace. When someone is wrestling you, you don't try to maintain a standing posture. Instead, you use their weight to take them down. Do men commit most of the crime? Yes. But what makes it so, is it not their power? Is it not the fact that all toxic masculinity is about superiority in some sense or another? So wouldn't female supremacy have the same issue in the e…

1 in 50 is for sure a bullshit number, and is not based in any data at all. In my country, even the male number is twice that (1 in 25) and for women its 1 in 8, and that's actual sexual abuse, not a poll or some funny wording, and that's backed up by a actual data. (Edit: Ohh and fwiw Christina is a right-wing "feminist" and while that doesn't discredit good arguments, it does discredit non-data-backed or cherry-picked-data statements)

I'm sorry, but no. As a man, even I know this. First of all: It isn't much sensationalism. A lot of the stories are grounded in truth, and the ones that are lying about it are few and far between and are anecdotal stories abused by conservatives to gaslight women. Second of all - the anti-patriarchy stuff goes much further than just being about sexual misconduct. It hurts men too. I would like to think that this form of "feminism" isn't really feminism anymore. The examples you are talking about here are more about misandry, I e. Degrading men and bringing their value down, than uplifting women to gain equality to men. I don't think there's any value in trying to create a world where you only have power because men are miserable and degraded to a level of animals, because you still aren't actually accomplished. I think feminism is much stronger when it's about creating a …

I think the stereotype that men are just sex obsessed is kinda hurtful indeed. From my own perspective, while yes I can easily find many women attractive, I'm not immediately sexually aroused. I do need an emotional bond, but that many men still need that seems to be heavily underestimated, and mostly overshadowed by the focus on the men that are sexual savages. Also you're right that sexual assault a lot of the time is actually not just about sexual satisfaction.

It's not about you suggesting me not to get married though. It's about you trying to claim that in marriage, the partners are entitled to sex. Has nothing to do with me being or not being in a marriage.

And a judge will quite easily tear up and disregard your prenup as "unfair" and "unconscionable". If it is indeed "unfair" and "unconscionable". I don't give a shit that you don't agree with alimony. the law won't give a fuck whether you agree or not - if and when a court orders you to pay it, the judge won't be asking you if you agree Btw - If I don't agree with it, I could in fact let it be written down in the prenuptial agreement.

A person can still say no when they want. Exactly. So, the partner is not entitled to the sex. They are reasonable in expecting some level of intimacy, but not whenever. And they are reasonable in expecting some level of communication about inquiries regarding said intimacy. But you're not entitled, and that is exactly why you're allowed to get a divorce. Do note - a divorce isn't a punishment. It's not a criminal prosecution. To compare entitlement vs reasonable expectancy, let me grab an analo…

Every woman, and I do mean EVERY woman, who becomes a wife deems herself entitled to things from her husband. Wow what a shitty worldview you have. Are you sure you're married and not an incel cosplaying? Like shit bro, not all women are shitty. Just like not all men are shitty. And the law will deem her entitled to things from her husband. No, most laws allow you to divorce if you don't want to be together anymore, due to different expectations.

Already legal here. I do think there needs to be better enforcement against abuse (from whatever side it comes from) because the sex workers aren't always doing it out of their own volition, or have a safe work environment. But if the sex workers do it because they want to, they should be allowed to.

If you think women don't come to marriage deeming themselves entitled to things, I hope you never get married. Men have higher levels of testosterone, therefore a higher sex drive Ohh boy do I have bad news for you, but this is such an overgeneralization. Not only is testosterone not even a strong indicator among men to indicate their sex drive (as in, a low correlation exists but other factors contribute stronger, like masturbation frequency), about 24-29% of women have higher sex drive than the average men, in whom it's indicated not just by testosterone but also estrogen and progesterone.

Lol I'm just saying I doubt you actually have a lot of patience. The fact you have restraint (I don't know if you actually have but I'll believe you in good faith) is still respectable, but it does, to me, means your patience is exhaustible. I've seen many people in my life, that looked like they were patient, but in reality just exerted restraint, until their hatefulness grew so large their aggression exploded outwards.

So because they aren't a protagonist in a romcom anymore, they hit the wall? You seriously have a skewed view of the world if you see it that way. Not every woman stays attractive after their 40th, but there's enough of them that (imo) still are plenty attractive. Same holds true for men, not all of them is a Brad Pitt, Ryan Gosling or George Clooney. Plenty of them that degrade just as much as any other human.

Ohh my bad, I just assumed you were a blackpiller or something, which was presumptuous of me. Regarding your last point, yeah, obviously when it's about a relationship, physical qualities matter, but the initial remark was about women being held to a comparable standard to men regarding respect and the way you interact with them.
