Marriage isn’t only a religious construct it can also be a business one...so you being atheist would actually give you more of an advantage at being strategic about marrying. You sound very generation Z.

I agree. I have a similar rule in that I prefer dating people who didn’t grow up in as dysfunctional as a home as I did. I also don’t date men who aren’t in or willing to go to therapy. I’m a psychologist in training so it’s a big non negotiable for me. I’ve had people say “well you were broken too” yes, and everyone has insecurities and trauma etc. But I prefer them to not be in the same areas I had them. Mental security is big for me. I hold myself to the same standard.

I honestly feel like it’s pretty common. I feel how you’re socialized religiously and culturally (racial/ethnic) can have huge implications for not knowing what “good sex” is. I like Adrienne Maree Brown’s point about not having sex or being intimate with people who don’t worship their body (paraphrased). They mention how you learn how to gage whether they will or not. I don’t casually date but I think this perspective can be used overall in regards to intimacy 👑.

What an entitled prick, sounds like the many rich east coast frat bro’s that went to UMICH because they were too dumb to get into an Ivy League. I know lots of context. Point here is, he’s def not a HVM and challenging men like this by not buying into it always resulted in those men pursuing me in those spaces even when I didn’t want it. Never went through cus ugh, but damn fuck these guys still out there.

I’d also add that you can be a strong independent woman who believes in men paying for dates etc. My mom was a part of the chicana civil rights movement, a bad bitch and alway taught me the man should pay (in courtship etc). She was proposed to more than once in her lifetime while also being the true essence of a strong woman who believes in both. I feel the same. I have more than one degree and always expect the man to pay, and he will if he’s interested. If a man doesn’t, take that as he’s not…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
