Men still have to contribute to the woman as if she were still his partner. Women aren't on the hook for anything. All they lose is the responsibility of contribution.

When malicious and manipulative people are cornered they panic and lash out like a feral animal. She knows you're onto her scam, and she's deathly afraid of losing it. As soon as she stops those "invisible chores" and nothing changes, she's afraid she'll have to actually start being a partner.

This was me four years and two kids ago. If I could go back, there's no way I would stay with her. Anyone who can comfortably not contribute anything to a relationship while basking in the money given them is not a fucking partner. In fact, I almost think something must be wrong with their brains. I also believe that people rarely change. You know the situation, but just know that I've been there, and I'm only more miserable with each passing year.

Also, how utterly depressing would that be to believe about yourself?

Get the fuck out before kids happen. Lol

Lol yeah. She thought she was doing too much housework. Fuck off with that noise. I work 50 hour weeks to provide you with all of your necessities, luxuries, and impulsive bullshit. You've got plenty of time while I'm gone to do all of the housework.

Been there. Mine quit her job on a whim to take a $3000 hypnosis class with no plans of working when she got back. (This was before kids). Two weeks into this, she came to me and said that I need to "step up my game around the house" lol fuck off.

She isn't abusive. It's not that I think she'd get full custody. I would want to be fair and go with 50/50 but only seeing my boys for half the time I usually see them sounds horrible.

"she will appreciate my responsibility and reasonableness and will respond in kind". This one hits home. That mentality has caused me untold amounts of strife over the years.

Yeah, and even the parts that are difficult are only difficult for a few years. Once they're more self sufficient you get to do what you want pretty often. Once they're in high school, you don't have to do shit. Once they leave the house, you're fucking retired.

Yeah, that's nonsense. Imagine having someone else foot the bill and claiming that you're the one who sacrificed.

I really can't understand that. Where is their pride? How could you possibly feel comfortable knowing that your life is being brought to you by someone you resent?

At least she admits that being a stay at home mom isn't the most difficult job in the world lol.

Dude, that sounds like my wife. She quit before we even had kids to "start my own business". She makes jack shit, but pretends that it is enough of a burden that she can't be expected to do all of the things that a normal SAHM can. It's the worst of both worlds.

"you become the meanest heartless bastard". I've come to expect that by now. It's her tactic in all areas. Take any single thing I have done that she dislikes and turn it into utter depravity.

The most telling part (other than the cheering) is when she said "I told him if he signs over his rights to me then he won't have to pay child support anymore". What utter disdain she must have for her own daughter to think that someone else with a parental bond to this kid would give her away for fucking $50 a month. How few fucks would a father have to give in order to take that deal? Fuck you, lady. You've successfully begged the world to deprive your daughter of a father.

I think the only small disagreement I have is with the idea that "you're not enough and never will be. Not unless you read her mind perfectly". I'd suggest that, for people like this, even if you could completely read their minds it wouldn't be "enough". It feels like the shit they talk you into doing for them is a nice benefit of the main goal which is to beat you down and control you. So it's impossible to "get everything right" because that actually doesn't exist. Even if she wrote a finite l…

Get the hell out, buddy. Expect every single emotion from her. It's all panic. She's going to try extreme love, but if that doesn't work almost instantly she'll switch to despair and then anger. She is worthless to you, less in fact. She's detrimental. If you're working three jobs to pay all the bills and she's staying home all day with no kids then your house should be fucking spotless all the time.

Yeah, she always says she feels like she isn't "enough". It's a mental issue for sure, but to me it's very simple. I name the things that I believe would make me "enough" (whatever that means) and I do those things.

Thanks for the ideas. I already have been seeing her tactics just in the extra pushback I've been giving over the last couple months. It's eye opening because she might spend a day or two being extra sweet and then if things aren't instantly back to normal she rages, lashes out, and tries to get angry with me over anything she can conceive of. Which is concerning because it makes me realize that if this comes to divorce she will be much worse than I previously assumed. Our finances are tied toge…

That's encouraging. It's rough because confronting her on this shit seems so painful for her. I feel like I'm hurting her by doing it and therefore shouldn't do it. Practically I understand that isn't the right way to look at it.

I've known for years that at some point I'd stop taking her claimed pain seriously. It finally happened when she asked me to take a day off work. Her reasoning? Her sister who lives with us was sick and in case she and the kids got sick she wanted to have me there. I told her it wasn't a good idea to take off work "in case you get sick" she said "so you're just going to abandon me here alone with the kids?" She knows how to get under my skin. That word, abandon is a heavy accusation to me. In th…

My wife is definitely happiest when I'm hurting the most. It's like she thinks that if she's getting her way then everything is alright. The last couple months have been very rough for her because I've stopped giving in, and stopped allowing her to manipulate me with tears or accusations of being unsupportive. "Happy wife happy life" is a statement exclusively uttered by dead eyed bastards who are just begging the void to make it stop.

I'm with you there. I'd completely prefer my boys be raised with both of us in the home. I guess the problem is that I've sought advice from trusted people dozens of times over the years, applied the advice, and it's just never gotten any better. I'm having a hard time even wanting it to work out. The thought of coming home and she's nowhere to be found is euphoric. It sounds horrible, and I feel like trash just verbalizing it, but it's where I am.

Thank you. It's tough to not feel responsible for her. It's also tough because when she feels me pulling away at all she actually puts effort into the relationship which confuses the hell out of me and makes me question if I'm not just being dramatic. Of course, if her extra effort doesn't instantly work she either falls into utter despair in hopes that I'll rescue her or she lashes out in anger bringing up some irrelevant flaw of mine. And I'm responding to her much less these days. Which makes…

"emotional labor" is used almost exclusively by people who desperately want to convince themselves that they contribute something to the relationship. You're supposed to be there for your friends, stop begging for fucking recognition.

It's a key tennant of critical race/sex theory. You cannot comment on or even perceive the "lived experience" of those below you on the privilege ladder, but they can perceive yours. It is set up to be an unwinnable game. A man absolutely is absolutely dependant on a woman to understand what sex based oppression is, and has to trust her completely.

If married men only accomplished things based on getting laid then nothing would ever get done. Maybe in the times past that we try to romanticize, but I doubt it was even true then. The amount of sex your wife gives you has no correlation with the amount you accomplish. She has you, and no longer has to try to win you over, but puts you through every test imaginable.

It gets old for sure. Realizing that your identity means you aren't allowed to have opinions in certain things, you can't empathize with the perspectives of those "below you" in the social ladder, more is expected of you and less is given to you. The women around you constantly claim to be strong and independent as an excuse to treat you like shit. Women at work are your equals right up until it's time to take out the garbage. You get no appreciation for the fact that you do more than they do...…

The day after our wedding my wife wanted to give her sister $100 for her 16th birthday. We were poor college kids so I told her that was probably too much. She angrily lashed out and told me that since our wedding took place in her hometown (something I thought was a thoughtful gesture on my part) and most of the guests her friends, that she was entitled to more say in what we do with the money we got as wedding gifts.
