I don’t understand why it isn’t a reimbursement model or a matter of submitting a claim. Submit/send a receipt or the cost of something for the kid that you haven’t purchased yet but intend to (i.e. bigger items/experiences or recurring bills like private school tuition, karate classes, guitar lessons, etc.). Receive half of the cost, and then have some court-decided monthly grocery allowance based on the current average in the city of residence. I mean yeah it’s a lot more work on both parents,…

People carry the mental load of the things they are responsible for. I work and my boyfriend takes care of the house, he’s the one who knows when we’re out of food or paper towel, I’m the one who knows how we need to budget the next 2 weeks. I know very little about what’s going on with the house other than laundry (I like laundry, that one’s mine) but managing all of the financial stuff is a lot of work. It seems that men often carry that mental load but it’s rarely acknowledged. It’s obviously…

Hormonal birth control makes women less attracted to masculine traits, lowers libido, and makes women more high-strung*. I firmly believe the popularity of birth control is partially responsible for the hatred of men and I don’t think this should make up the majority of our options. *Source: Your Brain on Birth Control by Dr. Sarah Hill

Not trying to paint women as victims or anything but it’s important to keep in mind that from a biological perspective women are more sensitive to potential/perceived threat (esp re: sexual violence) and feminism really takes advantage of that and tries really hard to convince women that any and all men could rape them and it’s pretty difficult as a woman to not fall into that fear-based thinking because it’s part of our evolutionary psychology. That’s not to say that isn’t irrational and harmfu…

In my personal experience as a nurse (could of course be biased, I am a woman) is that there isn’t much male sexism. My nursing program was the only program I’ve ever seen provide a male-specific scholarship, my nursing teachers emphasized that female nurses should accompany male nurses while doing invasive procedures on female patients for the safety of the male nurse against false accusations, we discussed the historical sexism towards men in nursing, etc. I currently work in psych and our poo…

For the whole “2 guys nights a week” thing, does gaming count? My bf has been struggling with his mental health lately so he hasn’t been working, he games with his friends for a few hours pretty much every day - he does actually talk with them via mic and he meets new people too which is great but his friends live in his hometown (about a 3 hour drive away). He does seem to be doing quite a bit better after having a few months off of work but I’m a bit worried because now I’m the only person he …

This is such a good take, I think you’re definitely right. I see mainly really short girls going after really tall guys and they always behave like small children around their partners, they also tend to reference the fact that they are short/tiny/cute way too often.

My boyfriend is 6’3 and I love the fact that he’s 6’3 only because it takes him off the market for girls who demand a guy be super tall lol. I’m 5’9 and my 2 previous partners were 5’7 and 5’8 (I.e. average male height), I’ve never seen the point in putting so much importance on such an arbitrary quality. I felt insecure being a tall girl for a long time because short girls put so much emphasis on being cute and small, girls don’t typically like being associated with “big” so maybe I empathize w…

Many women will say that they’ll have an abortion without question but that can change once they’re actually pregnant. Abortion isn’t as easy of a decision as you’re making it out to be. This is also basically the definition of victim-blaming. The expectation that men need to know a woman inside and out (lol) before having sex with them is absurd. You’re saying that a man should know a woman essentially better than she knows herself before he has sex with her. Women can lie about birth control, …

To touch on the actual gender part of your post, I think a lot of people (men and women) often misinterpret healthcare as being biased simply due to a lack of knowledge about medicine. For instance: I went to the ER with severe lower abdominal pain, I guessed that I probably had an ovarian cyst, I told this to my doctors. The first doctor I saw was a male who assessed me for kidney stones, he booked me for a renal ultrasound the following day. When I went in the next day for the ultrasound, the …

Yeast infections are fungal infections hence why you’ve been prescribed clotrimazole (anti-fungal cream). This is standard first-line treatment for fungal infections. Pills like fluconazole are also anti-fungal but they’re typically used if the topical ointment isn’t effective. There are less side effects with a topical treatment vs a systemic treatment (pill) and there’s less chance of user error. If you don’t finish the course of treatment with pills the infection can come back stronger and re…

Something I NEVER see talked about is that the largest demographic of opioid overdoses are young-middle aged men doing contract work in trades. I’m in Canada where the opioid epidemic is a massive public health crisis (~20 deaths/day!). We talk about “harm reduction” and naloxone training constantly yet no one wants to address the root cause: men in trades who work as contractors have no benefits, no PTO, no sick leave, no long-term disability, no job security, etc. so when they inevitably get i…

Personally I (female) am happy staying a forever girlfriend, I’ve always said I’d enjoy a “symbolic elopement” i.e. an elopement-like ceremony where you make vows to each other but you don’t get legally married. I also really don’t see the point of big weddings hence the elopement part. I don’t have any desire to be legally bound to someone but I’m a sap and want a love ceremony where I vow to be with my partner forever. I actually know a few couples who aren’t legally married but they just tell…
