So, just like women, men sometimes deal with issues between their legs. From Jock Itch to UTIs to yeast infections. Yes, men, just like women, can get yeast infections. I recently went to a doctor, female, regarding such an issue and they didn't know much about the issue and eventually, after doing some reading, offered me clotrimaderm, the same stuff you can get over the counter for jock itch. The cream hasn't been working for me, and I don't trust a doctor, especially female, to understand the penis, yet alone an uncircumcised one. So, I scoured the internet for information on treating the yeast infection, yet 99% of the information I could find didn't mention yeast infections in men or the medical term used to refer to yeast infection of the penis. Eventually I was able to find a study in which they compared the cream against a medication called fluconazole. At a dose of 150mg this pill will, with a 92% effectiveness, clear up the infection. Even better the drug is available over the counter, but where? I have never seen this pill in the section for male issues. Then it dawns on me, and I do a quick internet search, and the only sources for the pills are in female yeast infections kits. So, not only do doctors in my area not have the information needed to have treatment options available for this male problem, but then the solution in the pharmacy is gendered. Women often complain about doctors not understanding their bodies, but I'm not so sure that they are really the ones being discriminated against when I encounter the same problem as a man.
