Resolute and strategic leadership allows you to move fast and safely

Intro: Leadership & Dating

Leading in dating is still the man’s job.

Yes, despite all the changes of the last decades.

Empirical evidence from The Handbook of Relationships Initiations shows that gender expectations don’t seem to change -they were the same whether it was 1950, 1993, or 2000-.
And “orchestrating the dating” was one of the timeless expectations.

Meaning that men are always expected to lead.

And, we add, leading is crucial even later in dating, because intimacy is the final act of accepting his leadership.

That’s because when she accepts your leadership, she accepts you.
Technically, she accepts you as a man who’s ‘above her’ and worthy of leading her.
But that’s pretty much the same.

Of course, there are exceptions to almost any rule, and some women may do most of the work with more passive men.
But we don’t recommend that route because effective dating always requires male leadership.

And the opposite is true: there is no seduction without leadership.
If the man doesn’t lead, things never move forward.

1. Lead Her With Win-Win

Post image

The perfect mix of trust-inspiring gallantry, and attraction-spiking leadership

Mixing resolute leadership with warmth works MUCH better than over-dominant leadership.

Curt leadership alone may work with some, but can make you come across as a jerk.
More assertive women will turn confrontational, and higher quality women will walk off.

So yes, successful men resolutely move things forward.
But the most charming and successful ones do it with pro-social dominance and win-win leadership.

🔎 Example: Avoid domineering leadership

Him: Hey you. I’m talking you, oh! Oh!
Him: (motion to the passenger’s seat) Get on!
Her: Me?
Him: Yeah, you, hurry!
Her: (wants to go, but feels disrespected)
(…)
Him: Get out
Her: What?
Him: Move, get out
Her: (finally blows up)

⬆️♟️ Too dominant, turns aggressive & rude
She follows him because of the large mate value discrepancy. But a higher quality woman may have rejected.
👉🏼 But ignoring her emotional outbursts was absolute alpha👍🏼

As the example above shows, a more forceful leadership may succeed.
But it meets more resistance and drives away more women.
As a rule of thumb, the as*hole-leadership style fares comparatively better for short-term liaisons, but struggles to keep around high-quality women.

1.2. Relationship Leadership: Go For “Tender-Defender”

Although some women are attracted to selfish dominance, most women prefer leadership that is both strong and caring at the same time.

And that’s especially true for most high-quality women who have plenty of options.

Evolutionary psychologist Geoffrey Miller calls it the “tender defender” (Miller, 2016).
But however you want to call it, it’s best to establish your leadership within a frame of team-work and collaboration

This follows evolutionary logic as well.
People are naturally self-centered, and women have been programmed to seek men who help them advance their and their children’s prospects to survive and prosper.

So it makes sense that women prefer a strong leader who supports them and add value, rather than one that undermines them and makes the relationship toxic.
As*holes and abusive types who lead by ‘inflicting costs’, as evolutionary psychologist David Buss calls it, are poor fall-back options.

‘Giving your arm’ is perfect for relationships

2. Start Small, Work Your Way Up

Ie.:

  1. “Tell me about you”
  2. “Show me your necklace”
  3. “Let’s go sit there”

3. Be Strategic: Lead When She Will Follow

If you suspect she will reject, hold your horses.

Instead, focus on displaying your value first.

Of course it takes some calibration, but if you start small then a denial will not sink you.
Plus, if you read around here, you’ll surely learn how to recover.

⛏️ Example in the forum

3.2. Rebuild Power & Goodwill After A Denial

Calibrate the next steps based on her compliance.

If she complies, you can probably move faster.

If she refuses, ‘thread-minimize‘ the rejection and rebuild power.
For example, change topic, chat more, display value, and try again.

A good article to check:

4. Follow A Leadership Process

For example:

  1. Tell her you’ll take her out to your favorite place
Ie.: “Let’s grab some food one of these days, I’ll take you to my favorite place”
  2. Tell her time & place
Ie.: “I’ll meet you at the subway station X at 18:30 (good for you)?
  3. Move her
Ie., After greetings: “Alright, let’s go
  4. Tell her to sit beside instead of in front of you
Ie.: “Sit here on this side (we can talk better)
  5. Suggest her a dish
Ie.: “Do you eat fish? I highly recommend the trout (point the dish on her menu)
  6. Initiate the venue change
Ie.: “You done? Would you like more water? OK, let’s go then”
  7. Invite her home, tell her to go the next place, or end the date
Ie.: “(While walking) Come over, I’ll show you where I’m staying
  8. Tell her to remove her shoes
Ie.: “(While removing your shoes) Take your shoes off (it’s clean / here are the slippers)”

Lucio:
I like a ‘soft’ approach.
For example:

  • I’ll meet you at…” ➡️ “Let’s do at…”
  • Let’s go” ➡️ “Shall we go (as I head to the restaurant)” <— Starting to walk assumes and increases compliance

I find this approach equally powerful, but less ‘overbearing’ -and more calibrated to assertive women.

5. Tell Her To Do Something For You

Women do this all the time.

It’s one of the ways with which women control most relationships.

We call it “tasking” here.

Tasking tells you where the power lies in a relationship.
Those who assign tasks, are high-power leaders.
Those who execute the tasks, are the lower-power followers.

🔎 Example: Turning her into a wife with leadership

Tony: Why don’t we have a couple of drinks. Come on, I like Scotch (points to the minibar)
Elvira: Sure, why not (pours the drinks for both of them)
(…)
Tony: Come here. Come on. Come on. Sit here. I want to talk to you. Sit down. I’m not gonna bite you.
Elvira: (Sits next to him)

👨🏼‍🏫We know Elvira is warming up to him because she executes her task.
♟️ Good strategy & timing 👍🏼
1. Pushes the cart closer to her, making it easier for her to execute
2. Sits down himself when he invites her again
3. Reassures her when insisting (‘I don’t bite’)
4. He proposes after she executed his tasks

5.3. Make Your Requests Appealing To Increase Compliance

Ie.:

  • “Let’s go back to my place” ➡️ “Come over, I’ll show you the skyline, it’s breathtaking at night”
  • “I’ll take you out” ➡️ “I’ll treat you to the best ice cream in town. Their pistachio is to die for

Learning How to Lead

The best way to learn how to lead women?

Lead anywhere else in life.

Being a leader outside of seduction helps you become a more effective leader when it comes to seducing.

Here are a few tips:

  • Become a manager at work
  • Launch a business/project/side gig where you call the shots
  • Get leadership roles in voluntary clubs -many groups are desperate for team leads!-
⛏️ For example, I became a Toastmasters president
  • Build a social circle and organize events
  • Volunteer as a teacher
  • Take dance lessons

Prevent leadership issues: become a high-value man

Of course, leadership, as everything else, comes much easier if you’re a ‘catch’.

For example, a high-value man, high mate value, and an honorable man that both men and women admire.

This also happens to be our mission: teaching good men how to gain status and attraction, while remaining honorable men.

Women’s Responses to Your Leadership

How she reacts to your leadership tells you where you stand in the dating process, and tells you about her.

In that sense, it’s a perfect dating test!

But it also tells you a lot about women’s personalities.
For example, common archetypes of behavior are:

1. Meek and subservient: wants a good man to be a stay-at-home wife

Some women don’t ever want to lead and are very passive in dating.

These women make it easier for men.
They are less likely to screen for very dominant men but also have a much easier time finding a boyfriend.

2. Rebellious: very dominant or with feminist values

Dominant women try to lead.

They continuously task men and sometimes act catty and rebellious to his leadership.

These women can end up with very dominant men.
But, often, they have to content themselves with very submissive men because they struggle to find a dominant enough man who also happens to like dominant women -not all dominant men like dominant women-.

On average, it’s harder for these women to find a boyfriend.

3. Game players: they like you, but…

These women are power aware and would love to make you chase.

But their skills don’t match their ambitions, and simply bumble it:

Post image

She left, point blank, to make me follow her.
But I didn’t, and she ended up chasing -and looking terrible-.

P.S.:
These types sometimes hide psychological conditions, so better to avoid if you want a healthy relationship.

Calibrating Leadership

Despite popular ‘laws’, the name of the advanced game is always calibration.

Our approach is tailored to Western or libertine cultures, but the general principles apply anywhere.

For example, in this scene of The Godfather set in conservative Sicilian culture, leadership goes through her father:

Godfather: (after a misunderstanding angered the man)
I apologize if I offended you.
My name is Michael Corleone.
(…)
I wanna meet your daughter, with your permission, and under the supervision of your family.
With all due respect

It’s a movie, but it’s realistic enough to be real.

Real-life story of leadership in conservative country

More than fifty years ago a young, little countryside girl visited her village on a hot summer day.

A man saw her walking by and liked her.
He went over, said hi, introduced himself, and asked about her.

Until here, not too different from what might happen today.
They exchanged some pleasantries and then the boy asked her to meet again.

The girl told him that she couldn’t.
You know, she had recently ended a relationship, and her dad didn’t allow her to date so soon again.

You can see all the weight of the conservative culture there.
The bias towards proper courtship instead of “hanging out”. Taking breaks between dating one man and another. And of course, the father approving who and when she was going to meet.

In a more libertine culture, the man might have smelled an excuse or an easy barrier to break, and he might have insisted. Maybe he might have tried to make her sit with him right away.
That might have worked too, who knows? But in that conservative environment, the odds were stacked against him. And he didn’t want her parents to see him hanging too long around her daughter.

So, the guy didn’t even try.
Instead, he asked the girl: “Where do you live”.

The day after, the guy went to visit the little girl at her family’s house. He asked to see his father, introduced himself, talked about himself, and showed he was a respectable man. He said he was serious, and that waiting was unnecessary.
The father agreed and approved.

Post image

That’s how it started.
The two are still married to this day.
And a few years ago, I went back home to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.

The story I just told you is about how my father met my mother.

Now compare that to how I met girls just one generation later.
A world of difference.

Yet, what my father did was extremely dominant and leader-like. But it was bold within that culture and within the type of relationship he was seeking.

What does it mean to you?
It means that your dating and leadership must be calibrated to your culture and your goals.

SUMMARY

There is no seduction, without male leadership.

Leadership is not only crucial to lead groups and manage teams, but it’s also the essence of seduction.

Many men’s dating struggles are largely due to leadership -either total lack of leadership, or insufficient leadership-.
