Today a feature in what is certainly going to be a theme in the years to come. First off an insightful (that’s sarcasm) post in Slate.
Yep, the divorce rate is supposedly falling. The reason should put chills down the spine of any sane man that is contemplating selling himself on the auction block:
The reality is, however, that divorce is just expensive. People can’t afford to get divorced during a recession. Marriage rates are down as well; they can’t afford that luxury either.
Divorce, dear readers, is a “luxury.” Apparently the thinking of the typical western wife goes: “Hmmm, what should I do for myself today? I had my nails done, and I went out with the girls last night. Oh, I know, I want to get divorced.”
Don’t give women anything, especially the luxury of marriage, unless you feel like giving them the luxury of divorce. This is why women initiate divorce 70% of the time, they view it as a luxury. Ask your divorced male friends if divorce is a luxury for them.
If this alone doesn’t speak to how imbalanced our society is, I don’t know what does.
What kind of people think like this? The Typical American Woman.
Now for a turn of phrase that makes the hopeless romantic in me weep, “Companionate Marriage” which is the new Orwellianspeak for a “soulmate marriage.”
If you already have a fantastic term for the ultimate marriage, why would you come up with a piece of shit term like Companionate marriage to replace it?
Well, the answer is simple. To continue the rewriting of what marriage is about. The husband is now the dutiful and supportive “companion” as the woman seeks fulfillment by fucking as many other men as she can.
Whether or not I believe in soulmate marriage, at least the idea seems wonderful. A soul consuming love that is all encompassing.
The companionate marriage makes me want to pluck my eyes out, just reading that phrase.
The lies men are getting told now are not just lies, they’re boring lies for them, soul crushing lies.
Finally the truth, although the woman can’t really see it about divorce:
This is a form of feminism but also a form of instability. Researchers predict that once the recession is over the working class will start to look like the inner city—a matriarchy with struggling mothers and drifting men and unmoored children. The most amazing statistic comes late in the report—the percentage of people who describe themselves as “very happy” with their marriage is way down since 1960.
Feminism = the end of civilization. You heard it from a feminist. Why does this woman get paid for this?
