Yep, this week it’s The Maltese Falcon, staring Humphrey Bogart, Mary Astor, and Peter Lorre.
Bogart’s Sam Spade figures the whole system is rigged from the get go. He’s been burned by women in the past. He assumes from the start that they are all cheap, easy, and willing to use him or anyone else to get what they want. He dares them to prove him wrong. Invariably they don’t.
