Gotta go with a foreign movie this time. Lone Wolf and Cub: Sword of Vengance. Cinematography is absolutely gorgeous for a movie made in 1972. I expected this movie to not be the best quality transfer to DVD, but I was pleasantly surprised.
The LTR happened to walk in while I was watching this movie right at the point that a woman was being raped to death. It was a striking scene meant to portray the difference between Ogami Itto and the Ronin whom he has been sent to kill. Itto, while an assassin still has his honor, these Ronin do not. Predictably she either didn’t get that point or chose to overlook it in her outrage over the portrayal. I’m recommending this movie because it was much better than I’d expected, and because the LTR was incensed by the whole thing.
