For most of civilization there have been two major trends in our species: Greater intelligence and greater beauty.
The greater beauty is simple, not only do men select for it, but when there is a dirth of men through war, the beauty of the group increases as a whole because the more beautiful women procure mates while the less fortunate ones don’t.
The greater intelligence is a bi-product of a steadier food supply, health benefits and selectivity in the woman in looking for a provider. I am not saying that a genius is generally more sought after under patriarchy, but the somewhat more intelligent (a deviation of one or two) have a slight advantage which over time promotes intelligence.
However, when we have a welfare socialist government we begin to have disgenics occurring. Women have more children with lower intelligence thugs which eventually causes civilization to crumble. Humanity becomes uglier and more stupid.
This is why I don’t favor having the government protecting people from their bad mistakes. The prodigal son had to humble himself and return home to his father. The screw up today has no need to do that, there is no lesson learned, there is no spiritual triumph accomplished be correcting the errors of ones ways, there is no struggle to succeed. There is no reason to depend upon each other, and as a social animal there is no trust and cohesion, if there is no interdependence.
Do not mistake this for support of eugenics though.
No group should have that kind of control over who lives, who dies, who gets tinkered with.
Once again it is government that would involved and once again government would make a complete hash of it. They set up the Department of Energy in the 70s to ween us off foreign oil, and has it succeeded? Nope, now it employees tens of thousands of people to mill around in a bureaucracy.
Humanity under a global government eugenics programs would remake humanity like so many purebreds that suffer from weak hips, bad temperaments or general ill-health and a specialized diet.
Homogeneous people would arrive in short order. Imagine all the beautiful people all looking a like. Human beings need the sense of independent sense of self to survive. If the stark reality of sameness damaged their snowflake mentality, there would be an existential crisis for humanity.
At some point an unforeseen consequence would occur and wipe out most of humanity. If it had been in humanity’s best interest to have a narrow gene pool, we’d bud off each other instead of having sex.
Humanity would very rapidly become extinct (which would suit some Gaiaists just fine).
Any fool that supports eugenics should carefully consider what it would be like if a person that actively dislikes them was in charge of their reproductive future.
