Just a few personal thoughts and reflections about inner game this morning. Peruse the PUA blogs of Sinn, Entropy, and Tenmagnet among others, and they all stress the importance of inner game. Congruence between your internal self-image and the external image you project is essential for any gamer. But I think it goes beyond that. We as men are constantly bombarded by misandrist messages. Assaulted, if you will, and it takes a strong man, a strong inner game, to withstand the cultural and societal barrage. A barrage meant to shape and pummel our self-image into the passive, weakened, pliable men that the feminists and cultural elites desire to control.
This war on men and masculinity starts early. As early as the first day of elementary school (heck maybe even pre-school, but I don’t have any kids in preschool, and I sure as shit don’t remember enough of pre-school to have an opinion). Boys, we are told, are troublemakers. Boy’s natural curiosity about how things work is suppressed. Ritalin is over prescribed because the women who predominantly teach can’t control the boys in their class. Math is dumbed down so that girls can score equal or better than boys. Girls achievements are celebrated, boys are shoved to the back. We have all heard about how women now earn more college degrees than men and outnumber men on college campuses. What the heck do these ding dong expect? If there’s only risk and no reward, men won’t participate. It is too obviously a bad bet.
In some cases the war on masculinity starts earlier with the over protective mother, or worse yet the single mom, who doesn’t or can’t see that life is about risks and rewards. The best lessons are those that include a little pain. The lessons where as a boy I made a mistake or error in judgement and then was forced to find a solution or take the punishment. Too many mothers these days (and I know quite a few) have the goal of protecting their children from the world instead of opening doors so they can discover it. Too many fathers acquiesce to their wives and allow this smothering of masculinity.
This post is turning into more of a rant rather than what I thought I would write about. I thought I was going to write about some of the events that helped shape my inner image of who I am. I’ll have to save that for another time.
