It was once believed that communism’s spread would be inevitable. That slowly it would take down one country after another and the shadow of totalitarianism would overcome each country until the world was communist.
The domino theory was part of what shaped American foreign policy. it was a desperate fight to stop the spread. To slow it down.
America’s failure in Vietnam made the belief that communism would prevail stronger. (Strangely enough Ho Chi Minh lifted sections of America’s declaration of independence when he wrote their proclamation of independence. There is some evidence that the guy thought the United States would back Vietnam against the french in its quest for liberty.)
There is a new belief about the inevitability of things. The idea currently that “history is over” that the major events have happened, that our slow drift into soft tyranny and socialism will continue leading to a one world government.
This is the same kind of nonsense thinking that wall street sold as the “end of risk.”
Some see feminism continuing forever, others see a one world government forming. The end of the west, the rise of some other group or nation. The continuation of multiculturalism or Islam sweeping the globe.
Obviously some of these things are compatible, others are not.
There will be no feminism with worldwide Islam.
Any world government will doubtless fall almost immediately, just as Alexander’s empire collapsed after his death.
Hubris.
For the wonderful thing about humanity is that things happen.
The Black Death, the development of nuclear weapons, rebellions and peace movements. Game changers have happened at different points in history and we are still creatures of history, as much as our society wants us to believe otherwise.
The idea that history is over, the fatalism of that attitude is promoted. Feminism relies on its belief of inevitability, inevitable has a connotation of rightness about it. Justice “will” prevail. The kingdom of God will be on earth eventually. The system wants people to believe in inevitability, because it saps people of their will, it saps them of their ability to choose. It makes the acquiesce.
Belief in inevitability inhibits a person’s ability to rebel. Inhibits his ability to say “No!” because there is no point, if everything is inevitable.
The west as it is, is falling, but it will not be a straight line, and the rest of the world is not in ascension either and things change.
We are all screwed, the west happens to be getting lube, the rest of the world won’t. Nothing though is completely inevitably, nothing is the “end” for one group, or nation or movement necessarily.
Imagine for a moment if feminism ended. It was simply over in the west, without Islam sweeping it aside.
What ripples would that cause through society with its death? The end of cultural relativism? The end of multiculturalism? Or would those just fill in the void left?
If cultural relativism was cut down, that would lead to different response to Islam by the west, which would lead to a different historical result.
The biggest weakness the west has is it wants to be the “good guy” yet it has absolutely no moral foundation for what a the good guy is. Imagine what the west would be like if it didn’t have that notion anymore.
