The feminist blog Jezebel, hosted by Gawker, has been reported to be crashing computers with malware, apparently an Adobe exploit, in its ads. Silicon Valley Insider has an in depth report on the incident that led to infection. Evidently, an online scam-artist fooled the Gawker sales team into hosting the ads.
While we at The Spearhead applaud Nick Denton for his success with Gawker, we feel we should counsel our viewers to avoid any intimate contact with Jezebel – one of his assets at Gawker’s online ranch – until the viral flare-up has subsided. Even then, we advise exercising great caution and using browser prophylactics such as Firefox Adblock and Flashblock add-ons.
