In a show of poor sportsmanship, the Canadian women’s hockey team, gold medals around their necks, swilled Canadian lager and puffed Cuban cigars for their post-game photo op. Later, some were seen sprawled drunkenly on the ice. The IOC is not amused, and has taken steps to investigate the team for what, to most of the rest of the world, was a rather tasteless display.
For some reason, despite the “liberated” spirit of the players, women’s ice hockey is not as popular as women’s figure skating among women, for whom it has about the same appeal that men’s figure skating does for most men.
