“Conservative” Canadian politicians have proposed changing the Canadian national anthem to make it more “gender-neutral.” Evidently, the lyrics “true patriot love in all thy sons command” are offensive and sexist to some people (probably feminist academics). It has been suggested that they be changed to “True patriot love thou dost in us command.”
Perhaps, given the extent to which Canada has been feminized (some suggest even more than the United States), this would be appropriate, but given the true scope of feminist changes made to society, perhaps this is not going far enough.
It might be more appropriate to change the line to “true sacklessness in all thy sons command.”
