Some time ago, someone posted a link to Ke$hA’s “Tik Tok” in the comments, introducing me to part of the contemporary youth culture that I usually ignore these days. I thought Ke$hA’s homepage was rather amusing, what with the narwhal and howling dogs, but I didn’t take it all that seriously. However, it seems that legions of young women do, and she has become an idol and a role model. Perhaps she isn’t any worse than Madonna was during her heyday back in the 80s, which isn’t saying much, but something has definitely changed.
Today, the girls have access to the internet and have been posting their own versions of Tik Tok, generally slutting it up in front of the camera in an effort to gain some attention. Their efforts have filled Youtube, and would appear to be a pervert’s dream. On seeing some of the videos, and thinking of my own middle and high school experience, I thought “these girls are really asking for it.” Things must have changed drastically in the 20-odd years since I was that age, because this kind of outright strumpetry wouldn’t have been tolerated in pubescent girls back then.
All I can see coming from this is a wave of prostitution, because it seems that is exactly what these girls are training for.
