Feminists are in pretty high spirits these days. Equality is no longer the goal, but rather outright supremacy. Bolstered by lopsided laws (enforced by men) that give women a sense of social superiority, they’re now pretty sure they’ve won forever and ever.
Call it pride, hubris or whatever. From my studies of history, this kind of attitude almost always precedes disappointment, and often a major crash from the pedestal.
However, it may simply be that The Atlantic knows a pressing social issue when it sees one, and is capitalizing on that. Interestingly, the managing editor, one James Bennet, is quite thoroughly male, and his uncanny ability to pick up on the subtle cues of society has given the magazine he runs a significant boost since he became editor in 2006.
So read the article The End of Men with that in mind, and, of course, don’t forget the massive entitlements and advantages that have been put in place for women over the past 50 years.
