Everyone’s probably heard about the sexual assault accusation against Al Gore, and I wonder whether it’s an indication that the former Vice President just doesn’t have sufficient Game with women. It’s true that Bill Clinton has been accused of sexual assault by a number of women, but when a massage therapist does so that looks pretty bad. Given their line of work, I’ll bet massage therapists are propositioned on a regular basis. If they accused everyone who did so they’d be out of work very quickly, I imagine.
Here’s what she says happened:
In a transcript of the interview, the massage therapist said she had been doing requested abdominal work on Mr. Gore when he demanded she go lower.
“I was shocked and I did not massage beyond what is considered a safe, nonsexual area of the abdomen,” she said. “He further insisted and acted angry, becoming verbally sharp and loud.
“I went into much deeper shock as I realized it appeared he was demanding sexual favors or sexual behaviors.”
She alleged he later tried to have sex with her.
I’d like to contrast this with what Rielle Hunter, John Edwards’ lover, said about her meeting with the presidential candidate:
Because I had never experienced anything like what was flowing between us. I sat on the other side of the room. I wouldn’t go near him. And he kept saying [she mimics his southern drawl], “What are you doin’ over there? Come over here. I can’t even see you. Come closer. I won’t bite you.” I was just—there was sooo much attraction and sooo much… I want to say love, but it wasn’t love at that point. You know, it was just this, this magnetic force field like I had never experienced. It terrified me. Absolutely terrified me. And, um, I eventually walked over to his side of the room. [laughs] He was pretty relentless. And that’s all I’m gonna say on that! Now fade to black!
So, when Al Gore tries to make a move he’s accused of rape, but when John Edwards does so he’s a “magnetic force.”
I wonder what Roissy would make of all this.
