I thought I’d better let readers know why the posting has been a bit inconsistent over the last week. I’ve got my kids staying with me exclusively for over two weeks, and my folks are in town, so I’ve been spending a lot of time with family, playing with the kids, on activities, dinners and so forth. This is one reason I decided to do more technical work on the site now as well — I don’t have the opportunity to sit in peace and quiet and write.
My kids are happy and healthy, splashing in the kiddie pool in the yard, and getting some sun during our short but beautiful Northwest summer. They’re also grazing the bounty of the backyard, stripping all the berries from their bushes, eating mostly outside and playing with all the interesting things kids can find in dirt and grass. It’s a nice little respite from the usual dark, wet days and shuttling the kids back and forth between houses, but it isn’t all that conducive to work.
There’s one more week of this left, and then it’s back to the daily grind which, by the end of this vacation, I’ll probably be eager to take up once again.
So I hope everyone reading is having a nice summer (or winter if you’re down under), and has a similar opportunity to spend time with family and little ones.
