After I posted the “Deadbeat Dad” story, a reader suggested to Lisa Hickey that she post these kinds of stories, and she agreed, then asked whether she could post the piece. Thinking that it could be of some benefit to other men out there who might not see it otherwise, I said “go ahead.” It went up shortly afterward.
I didn’t mention it immediately, because I didn’t relish the idea of a comment war, but I thought I ought to ask readers what they think of this. Of course, there have been some angry feminists denouncing GMP for running it, but otherwise no negative fallout.
As I see it, some stories simply must be told, and I’ll use even potentially unfriendly venues to do so. While we may object to a lot of what is posted in the Good Men Project, as so much of it is recycled material from the same paradigm that has put us men in the tough situation we find ourselves in today, it does seem to me that the main point of the site is publishing material that will attract an audience, and I can’t argue with that.
However, I still want to hear thoughts from readers, as it isn’t always easy to come up with answers concerning what to do with our content here, and how to best use it. So, feel free to let me know what you think.
