Bob Tur, who covered the LA riots from a helicopter, is undergoing so-called “gender-reassignment,” which involves surgery and the use of artifical hormones. Mr. Tur claims he was born with a female brain, but evidently not female enough, because the hormones he is taking are causing his brain to shrink and become more “feminized:”
“There have been incredible changes that happen physically and mentally. Mental changes have already happened. The brain is plastic, so its gotten smaller and feminized. I’m thinking the same way a woman would think…”
That’s the first time I’ve heard that female hormones actually shrink the brain, but it does sound plausible, as it is easy enough to shrink one’s brain with other chemicals, such as a daily pint or more of whiskey.
I’d like to hear more from Tur about what “thinking like a woman” entails. I’m not sure he can give us an entirely accurate idea of how women think, because, after all, he has always been male, and he’ll never know for sure whether women think like he does on female hormones, but he may have some insights.
Is it just me, or is gender reassignment becoming something of a national trend? Perhaps men have been so thoroughly culturally demonized and legally handicapped in our society that a number of them are deciding to “switch sides” so to speak. It really looks more to me like religious conversion than anything else.
