Dear readers,
for the first few years I was running this site, I had no life to speak of, and devoted a great deal of time to keeping it going. In a sense, it was my substitute child when I wasn’t taking care of my kids, and kept me busy during lonely days and nights.
Things have changed. I am living a far more conventional life today, and therefore don’t have the time or resources to devote hours every single day of the week to the site. In the first year or two of its existence, I was working on the site at least some every single day of the year – I never went a day without logging in at least once – and often put in up to 60 hours in a week. Time is money, and the site doesn’t provide much in terms of compensation. It never has, but it’s getting to a point where I am clearly working against my own interests by putting too much effort into it.
However, I’d like to keep it running, and I think a lot of readers would like me to do so as well. So what I’d like to propose is that some motivated readers help out with editing and perhaps some of the administration of the site. That way, I could keep writing and working on the site, and I could take my hands off it from time to time without worrying too much. It would also be much easier to edit and approve submissions, which I often don’t have time to do these days. Unfortunately, this keeps a significant amount of material out of the site that readers would enjoy.
Just a few months ago, the site had record unique visitors, so it would really be a shame to drop it at this point. There’s definitely still potential here, but I’ve just about reached the limit of what I can afford to put into it.
