A lot has been discussed about the ever-increasing push for “domestic violence” awareness and tighter and tighter laws to handcuff those who police are called in to investigate for such. No need to get into the semantics of navigating through the channel of that dynamic once it happens to you, plenty on the subject has already been covered.
What I’d like to touch on is a “rule” that I have been steadfastly holding on to during the past few years of my single life in the dating pool only because it is working out in regards to keeping Police from coming to visit me face-to-face. I call it a “Just Say No” self-defense technique that I apply to women I date and that is I just say NO to those whom exhibit quick-tempered, violent, and/or aggressively demeaning behaviors toward me or other men throughout the course of dating and putting it gently, I don’t return their calls, ever! I have to admit it was a lady friend of mine who applied it to her own dating life who gave me the idea, having never really thought about it myself since I had put up with a lot of crap over the years dating some slap-happy cursing femmes to get some tail.
Dating as you all know is that time spent “getting to know” someone else and finding out if that grinning member of the opposite sex is worth continuing a rapport with or not.
Simply put sports-fans, here is what I am talking about:
She curses at you for little or easily-aggravated reasons
She berates men in general in your presence
She prefers one-liners she thinks are humorous such as “You’re so stupid!”
Raising-of-the-voice is easily achieved for little to no reason
She instantly calls you profane names during any disagreement
She pushes or slaps at you without provocation
Any of these six (this is my personal list, so bear with me) displayed by a date, don’t drive to Peyton Place or the friggin’ wedding chapel….RUN!!
Don’t return her calls, don’t go out with her ever again, and maintain the force of will to keep this standard (or something similar according to your own personal threshold).
Me personally, I tell women whom I date that I will not push, slap, raise my voice, or call her out-of-her-name even if there is a disagreement…and I expect the same in return.
I consider a woman calling me an “@sshole” so frivolously as a BREAK-UP (on the spot) and conduct myself accordingly….no matter how smokin’ hot she looks.
Cursing is the key, because consistent and increasingly demeaning verbal abuse inevitably leads to physical abuse (i.e. domestic violence) and of course a white-knighting Policeman tapping his baton on your front door approximately 5 minutes later.
As you guys are already aware, one can spot many of another individual’s proclivities and peccadilloes during the dating process (some even right away!) and you should have your list of “just-say-no” reasons to hold fast to in order to avoid problems with the person in the not-so-distant future. Can you tolerate a violent chick who likes to get drunk and throw utensils across the room in order to get her into bed and walk proudly through the mall with that shapely physique of hers strolling alongside you? Its your call brother, but you may lament not holding to a list of “deal-breakers” from the very beginning and never being afraid to go without a girlfriend for a few weeks (Oh my god, can Davis do that? Nope, he’s working on his third match.com wife!).
