How do we Define a W0ke Church?

Speaking objectively, you might think the answer all depends on whether one is Christian or not, and where one stands on the political spectrum.  But in reality, we are seeing that W0ke churches and individuals are straying further away from the core values of Christianity and are making up doctrinal adjustments as well as justifications for doing so.  Meanwhile, true Christianity is growing among based conservatives.  So it is apparent that, in general, a W0ke church is a religious entity with a cultural identity, rather than a true church that identifies with Christ.

Political Tells of a W0ke Church

In the past, a W0ke / Progressive church or individual was identified along the lines of being politically liberal / Progressive, i.e. NOT being TradCon / Republican / Right Wing.  However, we have seen many Right Wing Conservatives and Republicans roll over or sell out, so a stricter test is needed.

Malcolm Reynolds wrote,

“The central tenet of W0k!sm, namely, psychological equality, was first expressed by the English philosopher John Locke (porn to Puritan parents) in 1690. Locke — the father of both blank slatism and political liberalism…

Gender equality is a subset of the equality doctrine rooted in the Western religion (Christianity). All partisan camps (liberals and conservatives) subscribe to this equality religion with the exception of the Red Pill camp — persecuted as heretics by everyone, including Christians, for this very reason.”

In general, W0ke churches will adhere to the classic liberal political doctrine of Diversity, Inclusion, and Equality (D I E).  W0ke churches will say they are required to abide by the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which includes, among other things, no discrimination on the basis of r@ce, sex, sexuality, etc.  This becomes a problem when ‘discrimination’ is extended to include affinities to faith traditions, convictions, and tribal affiliations.

In contrast, non-W0ke churches will revert to a little-known concept in U.S. law known as The Ministerial Exception, which permits religions to ignore discrimination laws when selecting clergy or other leaders in the church.

Doctrinal Tells of a W0ke Church

From a doctrinal view, a Feminist / Progressive / W0ke individual or church is one that subscribes to those respective philosophies and values. This much is obvious, but what does it look like?

Churches and individuals subscribing to D I E creeds will heavily emphasize the command to “love one’s neighbor as yourself” (Mark 12:31), without any discernment of the covenant affiliation or the spiritual constitution of the person, and will say that making distinctions constitutes ‘discrimination’.

The proponents of ‘Gender Equ@l!ty’ will falsely claim there is scriptural support for this belief by citing Galatians 3:28 and also Genesis 1:27. In addition, Ephesians 5:21 is isolated from the rest of Chapter 5 and other verses about gender roles and headship, and “men and women” is often added to Colossians 3:11 as a parallel to Galatians 3:28. Furthermore, proponents of ‘Gender Equ@l!ty’ often cite noteworthy women in the New Testament, such as Joanna, Mary Magdalene, and Susanna (Luke 8:1-3), Junia (Romans 16:7), Lydia (Acts 16:14–15,40), Phoebe (Romans 16:1-2), and Priscilla (Acts 18:2-3,18,26; Romans 16:3-4; 1 Corinthians 16:19; 2 Timothy 4:19), making them out to be Strong Independent Women™, even though not much is said about them in scripture.

Social Tells of a W0ke Church

From a socially conservative view, a W0ke / Progressive individual or church is one that tolerates or even cherishes degeneracy and lifestyles that are harmful to family and true Christian community.

Some practical ‘tells’ of a church being W0ke include things like…

  • Being QTBGL-friendly.
  • Blaming men for women’s sins.
  • Disrespecting men and authority.
  • Female or H0m0sexual clergymembers.
  • Displaying a g@y flag and/or a Ukr@!ne flag.
  • Supporting or donating to W0ke institutions, N A A C P, S P L C, etc.
  • Being C0V!D-cautious, requiring social distancing and wearing medical masks
  • Glorifying sin (e.g. h0m0sexu@l!ty, sexual promiscuity, single mothers) in the name of “love and compassion”, which is code for ‘inclusion’.
  • Sermons and teachings that prioritize ‘inclusion’ at the cost of sacrificing boundaries, traditional gender roles, and holiness.

Caveats

It is possible for a church to be W0ke in politics, but not in practice, and vice versa, but that would be a special case of hypocrisy (or ‘disintegrity’ to be more precise).  There’s also the chance that a church could present the appearance of tolerating W0kism among newcomers and those weak in faith, but still hold firmly to core, non-W0ke doctrines of Christianity.  For example, my church has two services — one that offers an evangelical sermon geared towards newbies which is socially interesting but doctrinally milquetoast, and another private service for certified members and more mature believers.

Discernment, wisdom, and prayer are needed.
