Default Purple Pill [B+]

The Purple Pill is human nature.

Introduction

In the previous post, The Purple Pill 2.0 (2024/7/12), I observed that…

“With increasing Red Pill awareness due to its going mainstream, and the increased social participation of Zoomers and the anticipation of budding Gen Alphas who are, or will be, respectively, navigating a drastically different sociosexual landscape than their predecessors, we don’t see too many people trying to combine Blue Pill idealism with Red Pill reality anymore, at least not in formal discourse.  Now the Red Pill lore is generally accepted and revered, though greenhorns may not delve into it nor take it seriously.  Within this context, the old Purple Pill 1.0 mindset has become outdated and irrelevant.  Even the Red Pill is now a tentative tutelage that is transitional in practice anymore, as it tends to channel individuals towards The Black Pill, nihilism, and/or The White Pill.”

I went on to identify two defining, enduring, hallmark characteristics of The PP mindset:

1. Prevarication
2. Female Pedestalization

However, some ideas brought up in the comments led me to realize there are other ways to describe and/or assess the PP mentality, and that the essence of PP will continue to endure indefinitely.

Mental Fragility

Bardelys the Magnificent shared this article from Illimitable Men.

“The reason many otherwise intelligent people often seem to behave foolishly, is because they have inaccurate maps of human nature, and the reason they have inaccurate maps of human nature is because they are not psychologically strong enough to handle the consequences of their own intelligence.”

“When intelligent people are mentally fragile, they misuse their intelligence to build ever more elaborate delusions which reject reality with a coherent but untrue logic set.  Meaning they self-construct or buy into a framework which is coherent within its own closed system, but does not survive contact with reality because it is foolish and thereby untrue.  Ergo they are logical (a sign of intelligence), but not accurate in the application of that logic (and thus foolish).”

Illimitable Men doesn’t go so far as to label this foolishness and mental fragility ‘Purple Pill’, but this is essentially the cause of the PP mentality.

Emotional Fragility

In addition to being mentally fragile, humans are also emotionally fragile.  We could substitute ‘emotionally’ for ‘mentally’ in the above IM excerpts, and it would be no less true.

That is…

The reason many otherwise emotionally healthy people often seem to behave foolishly, is because they have unhealthy mechanisms of self-interest and self-preservation that are inherent in human nature, and the reason they have these defense mechanisms is because they are not emotionally strong enough to handle the harsher consequences of their own good consciences.

When otherwise mature people are emotionally fragile, they misuse their moral compass to build ever more elaborate delusions which reject reality with a coherent but untrue system of values and ethics.  Meaning, they self-construct or buy into a framework of morality which is coherent within its own closed system, but does not bring about God’s blessings and truth because it compromises with Worldly lies and/or the sinful nature and is thereby untrue.  Ergo they are emotional (a sign of spiritual vitality), but not faithful in the application of those emotions (and thus foolish).

Case Studies

We see examples of this emotional / mental fragility and the resulting foolishness everywhere.

• True Christianity is the ultimate RP which most cannot swallow.
• BGR is totally RP about marriage, but no one can accept that in practice.
• Jim is totally Red Pill about Patriarchal Authority, but too few men have the gumption to hold the line like he does with the women in their lives.
• Churchianity is preferred by Worldly Christians who are simply unworthy of Patriarchal Headship.
• The same goes with the SMP.  People want just enough Purple Pill / Worldly compromise to make it palatable to their fleshly desires and to suit their individual interests.
• Radix Fidem is totally Biblical about building faith-based feudal communities, but everyone is like “WTF?”
• Vox Day is totally Red Pill about civilization and politics, but too few men have the snuff to meet the demands of that system on a mass scale.
• Sharkly is totally Biblical / Red Pill about employing c@p!t@l punishment for the betterment of the community (and the gene pool), as specified by the Noahic Law*, but people shudder at the thought of adopting that in practice.

* Sharkly added clarification below.

The bottom line is that people would rather wander in the relative comfort zone of la la land than to pull themselves together and do what would be necessary to make life worth living.

The authors above, and those who believe their ideas, might dismiss those who cannot accept these ideas as emotionally / mentally fragile, while those who reject these ideas might say that these authors are unnecessarily cruel, ‘deplorable’, heartless, medieval, and/or ‘unrealistic’.

Upon seeing this dichotomy of belief, you’ll see that there’s another way to assess the PP mentality in terms of awareness.

Ignorant PP vs Willful PP

With increased knowledge at our fingertips, most people are somewhat acquainted with both the Blue and Red paradigms.  The Red Pill is also bringing a greater popular awareness of Biblical injunctions to those who are unchurched.

With greater awareness of these truths, passive ignorance gives way to willful ignorance.  This entails that Purple Pillers can no longer sit on the fence and/or feign ignorance and will therefore be held accountable in the spiritual realm if not the social.

That said, we must discern whether a person is Purple Pilled out of ignorance, or if he/she is fully aware of what it means to be righteous and is willfully compromising on certain aspects of living out the truth.

Awareness makes a HUGE difference in how PP is to be properly assessed!

To make this distinction more obvious to the reader, we might draw an analogous comparison to the difference between a baby wetting its diaper, and a bratty kid p!ssing on the living room carpet.  In the former situation, the more mature person should take responsibility to sort out the confusion and deal with the mess.  In the latter case, the proper response is to discipline or punish the Purple Pilling individual by drawing boundaries, stating expectations, and so on.

A responsive action is necessary, because PP tends to have a leavening effect, as can be seen with churchians corrupting the atmosphere of a church with shame tactics, or the presence of PP commenters altering the tone of an online forum to be more gynocentric.

Conclusions

The Prevarication and Female Pedestalization inherent in The Purple Pill are reminiscent of the human affinity for falsehoods and pandering to women that occurred in the Garden of Eden — and have been with us ever since.  Thus, the Purple Pill is rooted in a psychological phenomenon resulting from weaknesses that are endemic to the fallen human nature.

From this broader mystical perspective, all of humanity is plagued with the Purple Pill of sin and always will be, simply because of this chasm between human weakness and the total obedience to the letter of the law that would be required to correct said weakness.

The PP problem cannot be very well solved with a top-down regulatory approach. The Catholic Church has tried this approach (with marriage) and it has failed miserably. Just as with trying to conform to the Mosaic Law, frail humanity doesn’t have the emotional and psychological constitution to courageously face reality, and neither are humans able to bear the draconian measures necessary to either implement pure hard doctrine or go full Red Pill.

However, people do have the capability to learn and improve to some extent, and this is even more possible with an increased awareness of the truth.

Since everyone is susceptible to the emotional and mental compromise that is inherent in The Purple Pill, wisdom, grace, and tough love are required in dealing with people of varying degrees of Biblical / Red Pill awareness.
