I’ve said a number of times that, “sometimes we win and sometimes we lose, but we win and we lose as a team.”
Jennifer and I are a real couple and our sex life is one of our strongest points. Our other strong point is that we communicate with each other really well, with sort of mental telepathy at times.
Because mental telepathy is probably completely infallible, we assume we never miscommunciate…which means when we do miscommunicate with each other, we can go for months before realizing that a miscommunication has happened.
Last weekend some of that miscommunication caught up with us and we had a very difficult conversation with each other. We resolved the issue as best we could and just had a stressful week. This Friday we discovered that last weekends issue was just the fairly large part of a smallish iceberg. We’ve had a horrible weekend.
Some of it was her fault, some of it was my fault, so we bypassed blaming each other and just worked on solutions. We’re moving on from this together and everything will be okay soon enough. Ultimately it was a good thing to have discovered what was going on. I’d write about the issues in specific, but I don’t want people try and dig into the issues and try and psycholoanalyize them or try and assign fault with a running commentary either here or on other blogs. We have very much used the Forgiving and Non-Envious tactics this weekend, so case closed.
So like I said, Jennifer and I are a real couple and just like everyone else we have crappy days in our life too. We still held each other, still said we loved each other, and yes we still had sex on Friday night (she squirted), Saturday night (she cried), Sunday morning (she tolerated it) and Sunday night looks good too (she’s gonna go for the handjob option when I offer it).
I’ve always felt that Jennifer and I are a special couple and that we have a purpose greater than us for being together. Just don’t think that we are a perfect couple… or even perfect for each other. But we are married, so we will just have to make do with our choice in each other. The difference between thinking you have a crappy life and a crappy marriage is sometimes subtle, but it’s there.
