It probably sounds dull, but on the heels of the replacement fridge, (Athol +1) I finally got around to putting in a new faucet for the kitchen sink. The damn thing had been dripping for ages unless you jiggled the handle just right, and it was progressively taking more jiggling. The kids never got the knack and I’d come into the kitchen and find a slow but steady stream of water flowing. It would kinda piss me off, but I never made an issue of it because it just really needed replacing.
Doing anything plumbing related comes with the terror that you will somehow screw it up and many things that should stay dry will get very, very wet in a very short space of time. As it was, it went pretty smoothly and I feel silly for having waited so long.  (Athol +1)
I also put together the little grill we collected last weekend. (Athol +1)
My car had a interesting problem on Friday in that I drove out to the goodbye bash for one of my work friends and I couldn’t shut the car off and get the key out of the ignition. So I had to turn around and drive to the garage to get that sorted out. Jennifer called ahead and drove out to get me. (Jennifer +1)
That however meant the weekend without my car and I did some driving back and forth getting Jennifer set for her work over the weekend, including some minor lugging of heavy bits and pieces into the van and generally suggesting that I didn’t mind being put out a little bit, to save her from being put out a lot. (Athol +1)  The weekend was 100 degrees and Jennifer was outside most of the afternoon into the evening and was drenched in sweat when I picked her up at the end of the day. Her reaction to a can of icy cold Cherry Coke awaiting her in the car was bordering on “emotional”. (Athol +2)
The exercise routine continues for both of us and we are at the 31 day mark of the Supreme 90 Day DVDs. In all honesty, I’m 41 and she’s 38. I believe we took 36 days to get to the 31 day mark. We both push hard when we work out, but we’d both rather cheat days and arrive at the end late but uninjured than have to stop. It’s an intense program and I’m drenched in sweat like I’ve never been before.
According to the fancy scale, I’ve lost 3% body fat since we started… but I’ve not lost any weight. So minus six pounds of fat, plus six pounds of muscle. I shit you not. I have some ways to go to “buff”, but am noticeably better all around with tone and strength. I’m gonna give me a +3 on the work so far.
Jennifer actually has gained a pound since starting. Toned and tighter. Ass = Ass +1. Schwing! She gets major points from me for sticking with it too. It’s been really fun doing it together. She does so much for me anyway that she gains points here and there all the time. The sex has been sensational this past month.
Been listening to the Lord of the Rings soundtrack in the car today and had a mild twinge of homesickness. As we walked the final leg of our circuit home today, it spilled over into a 15-20 second altered state where the extreme weirdness of living in a place 10,000 miles from New Zealand felt like free falling in emotional zero-G. How did I get here?! Looking at Jennifer happily pacing beside me and a quarter step behind sparking the same sensation… how did I find you?!
It’s nice to think that perhaps we were meant to find each other to serve some purpose. It would be as Gandalf says, “an encouraging thought.”  More likely though, the dopamine is just running high and I’m feeling particularly in  love with her today.
She is my home.
