Has nobody else connected the dots yet? Everybody’s too busy talking about Arnold and Maria and the ugly chick he knocked up.
Fuck them.
Arnold’s never going to have any trouble getting laid. Sure, he’s getting on in age. He’s still Arnold fucking Schwarzenegger. He’s also rich, famous, connected, and powerful.
Maria’s got four kids with good genes and she’s never going to have any trouble taking care of them. She’s got plenty of money on her own account and plenty more from Arnold, whether their separation turns into a divorce or not. If she’d managed to keep herself away from the plastic surgery she’d probably still even be attractive enough to catch a date or three.
Ugly chick got her five minutes of alpha, got a souvenir, and probably got her ex-husband to pay years worth of child support.
Upon initial questioning, the woman claimed another man (her then husband) was the father. Why? Most likely because he’s been paying child support and she was afraid she’d lose it if she admitted the kid wasn’t his. Why’d she change her story? Now that Arnold’s gone public she probably figures she can get even more money out of it.
My sympathy for these three people is extremely limited. I probably have more for Maria than for anybody – but she had to have known what she was getting into with Arnold. Until he ran for governor of California he wasn’t exactly shy about acknowledging his love for the ladies in interviews. Oh, she’ll claim she thought he had changed. Run hamster run. But really, she should’ve known better.
I have no sympathy at all for Arnold or his baby momma. This is just what comes with it.
But I do have sympathy for the cuckolded man who’s probably been paying child support for years. It’s very possible that he’s not even all that beta of a guy. It’s kind of hard to compete with Arnold, if your wife is in to his type. And having to pay child support for a very famous and powerful multimillionaire’s child is downright humiliating. In a just world, he’d be entitled to repayment of all that child support plus financial compensation for emotional distress from Arnold. In our world, he’s likely to have to keep paying child support until the kid is 18, and probably have to pay for college, too.
Oh, and if he’s smart he’ll have paternity tests done on the other three kids, too. Although, again, it’s unlikely to matter much in our world.
Update: I’m slightly mollified, I suppose. CNN reports that the Governator has provided financial support for the child since birth. That doesn’t necessarily mean that the ex-husband hasn’t been on the hook for child support, though, especially if Arnold’s payments were off the radar.
