So what’s this Red Pill thing all about? I’m just figuring that out for myself. What did I make this blog for? Well, I certainly need a place to express the emotions and conflicts that accompany my recent discoveries.
My journey began some months ago, in the middle of a hard twin pregnancy. At the time, I thought my husband had HORRIBLE timing in bringing up some of the issues he was bringing up. And perhaps he did… but I think overall, it had a positive effect. He certainly could have done some things differently, and I will be delving into that. I’d also like to explore how women are brought up with impossible views of what marriage is supposed to be, what femininity and feminism are supposed to be, and how those impressions don’t jive with real life. Disney Princesses, hearts and flowers, a man who caters to our every need… it’s all hogwash.
And now, what is the Red Pill? Athol over at Married Man Sex Life could explain it better than I ever could. Go give his blog a look. And buy his book while you’re at it.
The Red Pill, a bitter little pill, is the truth: Almost all woman want to be lead, in some way, some more than others. We respond positively to it. It turns us on. Women are attracted to leadership and social dominance. Flies in the face of modern feminism, doesn’t it? All marriages are supposed to be an equal partnership! Women don’t want or need to be dominated, the world tells us. But this is (mostly) not true. The constant battle over the Captain’s Chair is responsible for most of those silly arguments that took up so much of the first 7 years of my marriage, and I believe this is the case in the majority of marriages, whether it’s realized or not.
I’m not advocating total domination, where a woman is no longer a person and has no say in her life. Oh hell no. A well-functioning Red Pill marriage involves a very competant, intelligent woman who can and will take over the Captain’s Chair in several point during the marriage, when necessary. But for major decisions, there is discussion and debate, and then the Captain makes the informed decision. Think Captain Picard and Commander Riker in Star Trek: The Next Generation. Nothing but respect there, but one person is ultimately responsible for the course of the ship.
I can’t begin to explain how smooth our marriage has been the last few months, with this concept firmly in place in my mind. Well, I guess I can begin to explain it, and I will throughout the life of this little blog. I hope it’ll take on a life of its own. More to come.
