The question has come up quite a bit. How did I react to the idea that my husband was learning to game me? I went back today and tried to recall everything, and expand on what I wrote about it previously. A lesson in the hamster!
I’m not really sure if can remember what exactly was going through my head, but I’ll give you the “hindsight 20/20″ version. I was pissed that he was using a silly book to get into my pants, because I was fine with not having sex, and he should be too, dammit! But deep down I knew that we were in a bad spot, and couldn’t keep going that way. The first page I turned to was the sexy move “Come on her breasts”, which went against my delicate feminist sensibilities (lol) and just seemed degrading and awful. Never mind we had done it before, long long ago. The hamster conveniently forgets the past and rewrites history.
Our situation was unique in that I was very pregnant in a very hard pregnancy at the time, so I was super pissed that he was wasting his time with this shit when there were way more important things to worry about than sex. I’m now sure the hamster could have replaced the pregnancy issue with some other problem easily. If it wasn’t pregnancy, it’d be the stresses of having a toddler, or the stresses of work, or the stresses of family, or something.
I was pissed that Athol was an asshole, and that it seemed like he was suggesting that women should be “second class citizens” in a marriage. My reaction was basically all hamster, because I think I really knew that he was trying to fix our marriage, I just hated that he was forcing the issue. I have big problems with confrontation of uncomfortable subjects, and this was one to me. The hamster was comfortable and didn’t want to budge. Everything here was directly opposed to what I thought a marriage was supposed to be… And yet it was oddly appealing.
I wrote him an email that was pretty horrible and bitchy, and he responded and smacked down every silly argument I made, and told me how it was going to be. I got the ‘gina tingle that Athol always talks about. The usual speech from Mr. RedPill was usually about how marriage was an equal partnership, blah blah blah, but this was authoritative and pretty alpha.
I got curious and started reading the blog. I started at the beginning and read every post and comment till present day. I devoured it. It all clicked, and I came around. I thought everything I was reading was pretty hot, hah! Mr. RedPill kept up the map, and we progressed. After our twins were born, we couldn’t keep our hands off each other for the prescribed 8 weeks postpartum.
The email exchange made the difference I think. If he would have just said “sorry, you’re right, sorry I made you mad”, it would have been a big fail, and I wouldn’t be here. So if your wife finds out what you’re doing, own that shit!
