I’m Catholic, but was married evangelical Protestant, and our wedding vows were the typical “to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, etc”. Today I read through the wedding vows of other Christian churches, and noticed this awesomeness from the Church of England:
With this Ring I thee wed,
With my body I thee worship,
And with all my worldly goods I thee endow:
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
“With my body I thee worship”. I love that. Too bad other denominations don’t include much about the physical expectations of marriage. It doesn’t get much thought these days.
